EBay "seller" feedback?

Options
Why does ebay want sellers to give feedback?

What can a seller say - "I found it uneventful posting the parcel!!!"

I fully understand why buyers might want to give feedback that could be usefull to other buyers but what can sellers say?

Do sellers on here really leave feedback and why?  Sorry for the rant, I am sick of it popping up every time I look at my ebay.

I guess if you’re only a buyer on EBay, a normal honest type, but your feedback was still zero then you might well be blocked from some sellers?

Unless I have to wait ages and get messed about I usually  thank my buyers for swift payment and easy transaction.

Back in the old days, you could give positive / neutral / negative feedback to buyers.  Typically you'd consider how quickly they'd paid, whether comms were polite, how they'd acted if they were picking up an item in person.  Having said that, I only ever had cause to give buyers positive feedback.

But there was a problem with tit-for-tat feedback, sellers nervous of getting negative feedback so almost holding the buyer's feedback ransom until they'd received theirs.  Or buyers worried about trying to return faulty items because they might get negative feedback for doing so.

So eBay made feedback for buyers positive only, rendering the entire thing immediately pointless.

Over the years they've moved further and further from a "community of similar people" model, which it started as, to a "massive online shopping portal" model that they're so invested in now.  And though I'm sure they're aware that feedback for buyers is completely pointless, it's one of those few remaining bits of the original site that people are probably quite emotionally attached to.  I remember back in the day thinking how cool it would be to get 500, 1,000 points etc.  So I reckon they just keep it going to avoid upsetting people, not because it serves any purpose.

I leave very generic feedback if people come physically to pick up the item, but that's it.

Yes, this is what I do when I have made a sale but it just seems a bit pointless as if they hadn't paid they wouldn't have got the item anyway.
I fully agree that buyers go ing feed a k is helpful.

There's a difference in paying immediately (I always try to do this), paying within a few hours and paying after several days.
By saying 'swift payment' you're highlighting to other potential sellers that the buyer is good.

The number of times, I see Feedback 0 Left for others 0 , Look at their address and find a road name with no number.

    Mine is always the same.

Quick Payment. Smooth Transaction Many Thanks.

And I'll only leave feedback if the buyer has taken the time to leave some for me. Otherwise I don't bother. Its a crap system anyways where you can't even say what you want about your buyer - forced into positive only, and have fear about what a buyer can say about you.
Saying that the one time I left a negative for a seller it was removed anyways - even though I was very careful with what I wrote - stating the item arrived in a used condition while being listed as new. Even that was removed?! So wat's the point?!

I always say "Great buyer, paid within the hour"

What frustrates me with the app is that if someone cancels a purchase eBay doesn't automatically remove the option to leave feedback so it always shows for ages!
