The winner and guest will stay for two nights in a Spacious room at the Devonshire Arms Hotel near Skipton. On the 30,000-acre Bolton Abbey Estate, it’s an elegant base for exploring the Yorkshire Dales. Footpaths lead along Wharfedale to the medieval priory, while longer walks beckon around Malham Cove and up Pen-y-ghent.

The Devonshire Spa awaits back at base, along with 40 rooms and suites – colourful and contemporary in the modern wing and packed with period details elsewhere. Lunch, dinner and cocktails are served in the Brasserie, while the Garden Room wine bar specialises in charcuterie platters and sharing plates. The prize includes one dinner for two in each, excluding drinks, and breakfast both mornings.
