Price comparison site E7 difficulties

I am with EdF on their Standard Variable E7 tariff, but I'm aware that I could probably be getting better prices, so I'm looking at whatdeals are available However, nearly every price comparison website I have used (including the MSE Energy Club comparison tool) does not recognise that I am on an E7 tariff. The only one that does is Compare the Market, and that doesn't allow me to set my day and night usages.

This property has been E7 since the day it was built and my current supplier knows I'm on E7. Is there any way to get the details changed so that these sites recognise my TOU tariff, or am I going to have to resign myself to looking through all suppliers E7 offerings and selecting one manually?

There were a couple of suggestions for an EOn user here

Reported the multirate button wasnt there but then back on 21st June.
So you might want to clear your browser cache selectively - and try the site again

Sorry not a member so cannot check.

Hi, yes I checked that thread, but this has been the case for at least a year for me, at least with the standard comparison sites like Uswitch and GoCompare, and I've cleared my cache many times since then. I'll have a go at clearing the cache and trying the Energy Club comparison tool again, though.

Depending on your day/night split, Utility Warehouse and their 5p off-peak rate might be hard to beat. Their billing is a bit idiosyncratic though, and you might need to take another service to get the best bundle.
Alternatively, if you have a smart meter and storage heaters, Snug Octopus is likely to be cheaper than any of the conventional E7 deals. It's a smart tariff and won't generally appear on comparison sites.
Edit to add: UW's night-time rate is now 6p in my area, so less of an advantage. Adding a SIM for £13 a month (which is quite spendy!) doesn't improve the energy tariff by enough to make it worthwhile.

    2.72kWp PV facing SSW installed Jan 2012. 11 x 247w panels, 3.6kw inverter. 34 MWh generated, long-term average 2.6 Os.
Not exactly back from my break, but dipping in and out of the forum.

That's really helpful. I'll look into those. Our night consumption is approximately 70% of the total and it sounds like both of those would offer significant savings.

In round numbers, UW were quoting me 6p/40p night/day, while Snug is 9p/31p.
For someone with a 70/30 night/day split, 1000kWh with UW would be £162 while 1000kWh with Snug would be £156.
An average price of 16.2p/kWh with UW, 15.6p/kWh with Snug.

Has @Butagirl posted her heater / meter types in the past, as Snug isnt just E7 - it E7 with ALCS for storage heating.

There may be other reasons for being on E7.

And more modern E7 homes - do not always have the ALCS / restricted circuits.
