Good morning 😊
Thank you for the start @ScarletRibbons
We are going to see my parents today, so not much else is planned. Before we leave, I’m going to put a tomato and harissa stew with dumplings in the slow cooker, which I will eat as is, and there are chicken breasts in the fridge for the meat eaters.
Hope you all have a good day 😊13 -
Morning folks and thanks SCARLET. Well I woke up to an unusual sight this morning - RAIN!! And it's forecast for tomorrow too. I know we need it so I'm not really moaning honest!!
Well surprise surprise ex SIL not only turned up yesterday but was dead on time picking me up! And DGD looked absolutely beautiful in her Prom attire.. Well I would say that wouldn't I, but she really did. She looked like a film star in all her finery. Her step GM arrived too with her DD so there was a big photo shoot in the garden.
Well rain has stopped play this morning. I was going to get the bus, early doors, onto the next little town along but shopping with an umbrella, along with my stick doesn't sound like fun. I will hang fire and see if the rain eases.
Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for our poorlies, sad or lonely. Safe drive TTB and can I just add that all your meals sound absolutely delicious! Take care all, stay safe xx

Morning allCloudy this morning and we expect strong gusts of wind again today so my poor sunflowers I grew from seed are suffering. I hope they manage to flower before getting beaten to death but these gusts!TA glad the ex-SIL did his duty and arrived on time.Nothing going on here today except some baking, getting the breadmaker out and then some Wimbledon.Hope everyone has a good day x12

Good morning
Its looking dull out at present, last night brought some unexpected rain which was really needed for the garden.
A phone call from my daughter yesterday which ended up with her making arrangements to come and stay for a few days next month. It'll do her good after the stress of the last few months and it will be good to see our dgd's. Unfortunately her OH will be working, so it's just them.
Tea last night was cheese and ham toasties, very tasty. Not sure about tonight, probably something with chicken..... again.
Will see what today brings, have a good one all. Take care.

Morning again, fine here but a bit chilly.
Have a good day with your parents themsthebreaks.
Ruby, I'm another one hoping that your efforts to help poor Rob are not in vain, you've done so much for him, more power to you.
TA, hope middle dgd had a wonderful time last night at her prom, also hoping that her dad stepped up.
Silver Oldie sorry to read that you'd had such a bad night, awful isn't it. Hope you slept better last night.
I've read back on yesterday but as usual can't remember everything, I'm going to start taking notes as I read because I know I miss people out and I don't want to do that.
Thank you all for your good wishes for my dh, it's much appreciated.
He's being referred for more tests which is a bit worrying, but we've just got to keep going.
Our Australian family landed at Heathrow yesterday and they're staying in London till Tuesday, when they travel oop North. Many messages have been flying between us of course. We tracked them all the way from Sydney until they landed here.
No particular plans for today, just general stuff. Hope everyone has a good day.
Take care folks.13 -
Morning all - thanks for the start @Scarlet. I hope that the DH's tests are positive. What a lovely time for your DGD @TA - and the timely pickup will have eased nerves. We never had proms, the most excitement we had was doing a mini-riot around the school on the last day.I was very moved at the gifts and appreciation you received @Ruby from Rob's team - well deserved!Yesterday was, by far, the worst summers day I have ever known! The torrential rain battered down all day, at times I couldn't see further than 10 yards out, and then the wind started to add to the 'joy'. The yellow and flood warnings are still in operation so who knows what today will bring. I'll certainly be staying indoors until it clears.I have no real plans for today apart from avoiding the blooming tennis and football.
Hugs to all, hope that everyone has a good day.

Morning All
Thanks for the start Scarlet, hope your DH's tests are clear. Bet you're really excited to have your family so close now.
Your post made me well up Ruby, how lovely of Rob and the staff. Keep fighting - he needs you in his life.
Enjoy visiting your family TTB.
Glad your DD's prom went well TA, bet she looked fabulous.
It was the same here Gers, wall to wall rain and a siff breeze, only slightly better this morning.
As I couldn't garden or allotment yesterday I finished knitting the little one's cardigan, just need to sew it up today. Also finished watching something on the TV that I haven't had time to watch over the last couple of weeks. If the weather doesn't cheer up I'll be looking for something else to watch.
Swimming this morning but not a lot else planned.
Hope everyone is well and you have a good weekend. Take care. XX11 -
Morning everyone just a quick one we are going to Barnard Castle today it’s the farmers market the first Saturday of the month and the weather is nice sorry to all of you that’s getting heavy rain I don’t want anything it’s just a look out I might get hubby some nice cheese and there’s some outdoor events going on at the Witham the Auckland shanty singers and a jazz band it should make a good wander round . TA I’m pleased everything went smoothly I know with 7 granddaughters what theses proms cost it’s not just the dresses it’s everything else that goes with them but they all look beautiful and so grown up never heard of proms when I was there age I’m afraid I couldn’t get out of school fast enough.Ruby keep fighting we are all behind you. Thinking of all the poorlies hugs to those that need them have a good day everyone whatever you are doing9

Morning all and thanks to our early bird @Scarlet for today's start. The rain that was forecast for yesterday didn't happen and the sun eventually showed its face around midday although it was quite breezy at times. It's damp underfoot this morning - must have rained overnight - and today is set to be cloudy with light rain at anytime throughout the day.
Yesterday passed well enough with admin done including reading, digesting and filing DWP stuff, plus some paperwork shredded. Curry made with the obligatory taste test (yummy), one portion for tonight and one for the freezer. Diabetic eye appointment changed and it's now booked for early August as that was the first available date at my preferred venue. Not an especially enjoyable experience but must be done. BTW, how are you getting on now @TA with post-cataract surgery? I hope your eyes have settled down.
Well, what's the plan for today? I need some fresh milk so will pop out for that during a (hopefully) dry spell and take my bag of soft plastics for recycling at the same time, there's a gammon joint waiting to be cooked and the stair carpet could do with a vac. As for TV, like @Gers, I'll be avoiding the footie and tennis. I've spotted that BBC2 has an evening of programmes showcasing ELO so, if all else fails, that will be on in the background while I'm cross stitching.
I'm another one of the age group that didn't have proms. I think the most we did was signing autograph books, shirts etc although I do remember one year someone managed to get up on the roof and hoist a pair of our hated bottle green knickers on the flagpole - most unbecoming for an all girls' school! And no, it wasn't me!
@Scarlet - Sorry to hear your DH is being referred for more tests, it's worrying isn't it? Hopefully, by the time your Aussie family get to you, the weather might have improved and be more like they're used to back home.
@Gers and @camelot - You're having some awful weather of late; I hope the next "heatwave" will be kinder.
@Izzy - Have an enjoyable day at the farmers' market.
Have a good day, stay dry if you can and take care. XBe kind to others and to yourself too.11 -
Morning all
The news was not good yesterday unfortunately, I eventually got an email just before 5 last night (done that late so I could not make too much off a fuss I think) the email was full of BS and basically they are sending him home, none of my points were answered just a load of waffle and quoting of a law suit where a young man with autism was forced to live out of his family home by the council and that the council ended up being sued, I think he was trying to outsmart me with legal waffle, the irony of it is that this is exactly what they are doing in reverse by taking Rob out of a place where he wants to stay 😡
I immediately wrote a quick email back asking for the case to be escalated to senior managers and pointing out again that my questions have not been answered, ie where is his advocate that he is legally entitled to. I also informed them that I would be taking the case to the ombudsman and Robs MP. I have told them it’s a matter of time before something terrible happens to him and on their heads be it.
I am going to sit and add to the complaint today as I thought of some more things such as the time when his mother told me ( when it was raining heavily) to avoid the puddles as he had holes in his shoes. And the fact that she called the respite place yesterday asking if there were steps into the house as she is unable to climb steps anymore - how the hell can she look after him when she can’t climb the stairs, and the fact that she was sharing a bedroom with him which is disgusting for a 35 year old man.
To say I am gutted is an understatement, he will be in danger and hurt in that house it’s a matter of time only.
I will email the MP today as well but the ombudsman have to wait till the council have investigated the escalation as they won’t look at it before that.
Im sorry the news is not better but I am still on the case.
Thank you all for the support it really means such a lot xxx11
