kitchen quote doubled?

Options
HI had an instore quote of £6-£8k for installation. Had a survey come around and it's now almost £15k. This is for all removal of old tiles, cabinets, etc,  replastering the ceiling and 3 walls (one end is open into an already done dining area, the other has a large window and a door. New electric lights, removal of all old wall sheeting and tiles, and levelling of the floor and installing new units, small amount of tiles and painting (Units, tiles, and other fittings cost are approx 6k extra) 12 units and kitchen is approx 4x6 metres, I'm very confused about the doubling of cost. For example, they have quoted the removal of tiles 5m2 yet in pricing for plastering, they have quoted 50m2, 50m2 for plasterboard, 22m2 for self-levelling flooring, and 22m2 for wooden floors.
I used a big brand company, as currently every single small trade local hasn't bothered either coming around or quoting me. Possibly, as I live very rurally. The company sent I've never heard of and there is no reviews or business showing on Google, but they are a third party.
Many thanks! I think someone has mistyped the measurements.

You say you used a big company and they sent a company you've never heard of who has changed the price - seems odd.

If the measures are wrong tell them. No one here can really help as you need to go back to your big company and speak to them. Just bear in mind that an in-store quote will always be dependent on survey unless you have provided all measurements (which is really the only way to get a quote in-store)

If the kitchen is 4x6 metres, then 22 sq.m. of self levelling compound and floor covering might be correct. Unless you're expecting them not to extend the surface underneath your units?
And you've got 14 (or 16) linear metres of wall, so at 2.3 metres ceiling height that would be at least 32 sq.m. of wall plus 22 sq.m. of ceiling for plasterboard and plastering?
You can definitely go back for clarification of their scope of work, but it sounds like the right sort of ballpark?

I’m sure the “quote” in store was an estimate based on the info you provided

Once they attended the location, the actual specifics of the job become apparent to them / hence the difference.

15k is a lot of money to do a kitchen. I'd keep looking. A builder might like that job as the weather turns towards winter and at 3 weeks work max they aren't going to charge that.

It would make sense to get at least three quotes for installation and make sure absolutley everything is included in the quote. Seems a lot for just the installation.... Isn't the average complete kitchen cost including the install less than 15k?

My son has just had a similar sized kitchen done 8 months ago. Similar work of removing old units and flooring , electric socket for hob,  replastering and painting, new units including oven, hob and microwave and new vinyl flooring. All in cost £22k and took two weeks.

Thanks the bigger company subcontracts local builders, And I cant find info on the local builders company. And of course I have asked them twice but so far no reply, hence why I'm asking here. Ill get a few other quotes. Many thanks.
