Too late to get income protection insurance?

I'm in the NHS and in one of the organisations that are being abolished. This news was released yesterday but we have not been formally put at risk of redundancy. Closure is likely to be early 2027 with some staff going into other organisations and some made redundant. As there is now a risk of redundancy, is it too late to get income protection insurance? Or would I still be able to get cover until we are personally told we are at risk?
Thanks in advance.

You mean PPI to cover unemployment?
Ultimately it will be judged by the claims handler when a claim is submitted and the explicit terms of your policy but with most policies there is certainly a significant risk they would deem to have known about it prior to inception.0 -

It sounds like I'd need to investigate every word of any policy but then there still may be a risk. Thanks for your advice.0
