Hi, my wife and I have just separated, my wife is trying to get help from the local council, when she filled in the forms and sent them off, they have come back and asked for proof of sale from a property we sold back in 2015, I know what we got for the property, and the date it was sold....but where do I actually get proof of the sale from??
Can anyone help please.

What do they mean by proof of a sale? If they just want evidence that you no longer own the property, a copy of the current registered title would seem simplest?0

Land registry
Or you may get free a copy of sale from your solicitors you used or they may charge you small fee.
First call them Title deeds IIRC show who owned the property and who it was sold and when
But call Land Registry first. Be careful when looking for the link to Land Registry as there are many are none government sites that ask for a lot more money for the title deeds so use the official Land Reg site.0 -
zoopla sold(for info)

Can anyone help please. Before spending time and money with the solicitor and/or Land Registry, it would be better for your wife to get clarification of what the council means by proof, as per user1977's post. There's no point spending money if a screenshot from zoopla would do just as well.1
