Can anyone help I have an LG LCD TV with Freeveiw and I am trying to tune my Phillips DVD / VCR combi to record Freeview (is this possible?). I can view my DVD no probs, and can tune in Analog but having problems recording / tuning in the freeview / digital, I have 2 scarts sockets on the TV and on the Phillips combi, I have tried to tune in freeview via AV2 to no avail I get a colored wavy screen, can anyone advise, will I need a freeview box for the video?

How have you got the scart sockets plugged in?
You will need the freeview output from the TV going into the VCR.
Then out from the VCR?DVD to the input on the TV (in theory!)0 -
On the TV my husband watches we are no longer able to record analogue programs with the VCR. I know he has changed something and if I was on my own in the house I could probably sort it out. I can no longer find the channel for recordings.
And, he has been bought a DVD recorder, player etc which he has not yet set up and I think it is because he is not sure what to do. He never did learn how to set a recording with the handset. Have you any advice Nicolai and I will try and do it all myself ?.0 -
To the OP: You don't say what LG model you have, but I took a quick look at the spec of one of their LCD TVs with built-in freeview, and it makes no mention of any SCART ~outputs~, so if yours is a similar spec then I doubt you'll be able to get it to output Freeview.
You should be able to find out one way or the other from the User Manual - if you've lost it you can probably download a copy from LG's website if it's a recent model.0 -

I burst out laughing at this as my husband just won't read any instruction manual. Years ago, when we got our first VCR I came home one evening and he had got in an awful mess because he thought that just by randomly pressing various buttons it would all come right. Now son-in-law is coming round to sort it out for him. We have masses of these freebie DVDs; the type he likes about ancients Egypt and that sort of thing. Let's hope he can start using his gift by the end of this week.0
