Hi all, we're buying a property and we're at the point of exchange.
The property needs refurbishment and I've secured time off work to help do this, this is not easy to do in my line of work especially to change it at short notice.
We have an agreed completion date but the seller is now refusing to exchange.
The reason given is they are waiting for a tenancy deposit scheme to resolve some situation for a tenant that left the property 7 months ago.
Is there anything I can do?
The agreed completion date is in 8 days time.
Thank you

Unfortunately, a completion date only becomes binding once contracts have been exchanged - so there isn't really anything you can do.
(If you want to get super-aggressive you could say something like you'll pull out of the purchase if you can't complete in 8 days time... but maybe the seller won't believe you!!!)

I've even said to my solicitor that if we can't complete as scheduled and I'm unable to change my time off I will have no option but to pull out1
