JSA When Resigning

Hi, I started a new job a couple of months ago after being made redundant in January. I have anxiety and depression, which the job has made worse. It's that bad that simply being at work gives me a headache. I've been looking for a job for the past month and a half, but have only had one interview, so I'm considering resigning. Is resigning the best course of action, or am I better off getting a sick note and waiting for dismissal?

You can resign, your situation is covered under "Employment on trial" rules so there will not be a sanction for leaving.

  • I wouldn’t resign. If you’re getting headaches have you tried drinking plenty of water and taking paracetamol as necessary. Speak to your doctor if the headaches are frequent. You may need an eye test.

That's good to hear, thank you.

It is always easier to get a job from a job so congratulations to you for getting a new job followinng redundancy.

Are you receiving treatment for your anxiety,  depression and headaches?

I think given government attitudes at the moment you are probably better off staying in work as long as possible.

You can of course look for other jobs but at least you eill have current references.
