Trading 212 issues??

I took Martin's advice and transferred i my longstanding ISA from Zopa, to Trading 212 at the start of the year. The on-screen message at the time stated that the transfer could take up to a week but, in the event, it took over four weeks, so not overly impressed. When I queried after a couple of weeks I got a chat bot parroting that "the industry allows for up to 30 days" or similar which I would be happy to accept if they had not said it would be seven days only. Anyway, that passed by and my money eventually transferred, All seemed OK until this morning, when I received a message saying that I needed to update my Identification in order to have access to my money. I eventually got through to a human (who clearly had been expelled from charm school) who told me my driving license was soon to expire. I know this and have renewed, but that seems beside the point. I proved who I was when opening my account and two months later they want further proof?? What if I had not renewed my license? Do I then have to give my passport details, and what when that expires?? Really disturbed that these people seem to want to know more about me than they need to. I have never, in fifty years of saving, been required to provide proof of ID after an account is opened - is this a thing now, or just Trading 212, who are about to lose £85k + ??

Welcome to the modern world, T212 won't give a fig if you leave and you may get the same request from your next provider.1

I had the exactly same experience. I sent them my passport and a month later they suddenly wanted more ID. Chat was useless so I just left them completely. I'm not going to be booking an appointment with the embassy to renew a passport I do not need just because of a silly savings account. It should only be required on the opening to confirm who the customer is instead of having a permanent record of someone's ID on file just in case they need to steal your identity.0

I joined a few months ago and it literally took about 30mins. I transferred a Virgin cash ISA that had just expired a few days ago and it was all done and dusted the following morning.Strange the different experiences we have0

All banks have security criteria now. You aren't entitled to know what those are but a soon to expire ID is likely to be a prompt for more information.
I've opened many accounts where I had to provide various ID documents and/or stand against a wall and take 180 degree videos of my face. I wanted their services so was happy to do it
Up to you whether you wish to provide that or go elsewhere and start all over.
£85k is nothing to Trading 2120
