How Does My Wife's Medical Condition Affect Me? - Travel Insurance

Options
My wife has a long-standing medical condition called Cushings Disease.

We are going on a holiday to the Netherlands in September.

My wife has secured travel insurance in relation to this via All Clear Travel Insurance, who provide specialist travel insurance, fully taking into account Cushings Disease.

If we have to change our plans due to the condition I would also need to return home.

So my question is do I need to get exactly the same level of cover for myself, or can I get a standard Travel Insurance policy? I'm not quite sure how this would work for me.

Thanks

Do you want cover for her Cushings? If so you need to be on the same policy not just the same level of cover.

If you dont need cover for Cushings, or any other of each others pre-existing illnesses, then you can get seperate policies but you won't be covered for cancellation or abandonment if its caused by the others pre-existing.

It would be better to have a joint policy with  your wife.

Each is assessed separately  but the policy will cover both of you.

You will be covered if a person yu are travelling with is unable to travel or continue the holiday.

If you have a separate policy you would need to declare your wife's pre-existing conditions in case she was taken ill and you had to return home with her, or if her illness prevented travel in the first place.
By far the simplest solution is for both of you to be on the same policy.  If you have no pre-existing conditions the additional cost for you won't be much.

Can you name a single company where you can declare health conditions of someone not covered by the policy?

There is little reason why it couldn't exist but yet to find a single one that does and the few here that have claimed to have done so couldn't remember who it was.

Technically there as some with softer wording, rather than a blanket exclusion of pre-existing conditions for those not covered by the policy but instead one that doesnt exclude a case where it wouldnt have been foreseeable that their condition would deteriorate but unlikely to be applicable for a condition like Cushings.

Thanks everyone for the advice, I called All Cleared and got a standard policy which they say would be fine if I have to cancel/curtail in relation to my wife's condition.

Thanks for the feedback. Are you saying that you are now on a joint policy with your wife or you have two separate policies with All Clear?
