Anyone Else Had The Email From Google About Pixel 6a Battery Fire Risk?

I got the email and checked the price of a replacement battery with Ismash, their authorised repairer. The cost of the battery replacement was £49 and I left the repair in my basket. After 2 days I got an email offering me £5 off, which I ignored. After another 2 days I got another email offering me £10 off. So I think I'll take the money from Google and pay for my own replacement. Hope this helps someone else to get money off their repair1

Well when you have a run of bad luck you have a run of bad luck!
My new Pixel 9a arrived this afternoon & guess what they sent me a faulty one. It keeps going round the set up wizard so I've been on google chat customer service for the last hour & managed after much do this do that to get them to refund me.
That's 14 days after they get this one back. It says perform a factory reset. It won't shift out of the set up wizard so I can't.
And my printer is not printing changed the ink cartridge & it's still not printing.

Yes, took the option of taking the cash compensation. I wish I didn't because the battery performance is awful. I had to take it to ISmash to get the battery replaced. Ismash took advantage and increase there price from £49 to £69.1

Both my husband and I get new phones at the same time.
We had a 3A, then 6A. Got the email as we were both impacted by the update, went to the "local" shop who would deal with the replacement battery who said it would be sent away for up to 2 weeks... 😬
So I took the chance of the compensation. Not many questions and we had ordered new 9A's in the meantime. I got paid.
Applied for my husband and they're now asking for proof of purchase, which they didn't do for me. They have the IMEI number, same "evidence" as I gave but they're declining the application. So yes, I'm calling GOOGLE out on here.
It was a contract phone for 3 years, out of warranty, once the contract ended I switched to SIM only with Sky. Who would need to keep the contract? And I'm the one who would keep this sort of thing...
I told Google that I'm raising it here, too. Being nice is not paying off this time.
Anyone else got this issue? Don't assume that it will be a quick resolution... 😬1 -
Its great to hear that some people have received the compensation from Google for their Pixel 6a. The link sent to me just sends me round in circles and has since July. I'm now left with a phone that is running hot with a terrible battery. I've raised this with Google and someone called Gerald sends an emails about every 5 days (and has for about the past 5 weeks), all pretty much saying the same thing, but I've yet to receive anything apart from empty promises. Has anyone else had this issue? Is Gerald even real??

Hi, I'm starting to think this whole refund policy is one big con. I'll try to keep a long story as short as possible but I applied for the 100 dollars refund cos I checked to see what was involved if I took my phone to a designated store for a replacement. Basically I would have to leave my phone with them for two weeks, like who's going to want to do that. So I filled out the application form, then was directed to Payoneer and had to open an account with them, finally got the message that my application was successful and I had to wait 8-10 working days for the money. Two weeks later still no money, tried to get in touch with customer services and ended up talking to AI chatbot or something. Went round in circles for half an hour exploring every ridiculous option that might lead me to speaking to something with a brain and a heartbeat then finally it suggested I might like to be put through to the XPRT TEAM. I grabbed at this chance just to get away from this robot even though I was informed that it would cost me £1 for the pleasure. I gave my PayPal details then found to my horror that my account had been deducted the £1 and also another £35.00 , there had been no mention of the latter expense , if there had been I wouldn't have proceeded, who would willingly pay £35.00 to merely enquire as to the progress of a 100 dollar refund. Luckily for me there are still some large multimillion pound corporations that like to operate with a shred of decency and morality and PayPal quickly came to my aid by refunding the £35.00 immediately, this was apparently a rolling subscription fee for access to the XPRT TEAM and blocked Google from taking any more. Finally I would urge extreme caution when dealing with Google, I couldn't believe what they had tried to do to me, it's a pity really cos the phone is a great product but I'll never buy Google stuff again after this experience. As for the refund, I don't think I'll ever see a penny of it1
