Notice to keeper - UKPC

Options
My wife parked across two bays at Brent Cross shopping centre. This was 26 June.

As registered keeper, I've received a NTK asking me to pay £100, with a £40 discount if I cough up in 14 days.

The reason given is "Not parked correctly within the markings of the bay or space". There's also a date and time.

Parking is free at Brent Cross, but presumably there are signs up stating there are charges for  parking badly.

Is the right course to appeal to the shopping centre? (Or do I appeal to the particular store within the centre?) Is the centre/store likely to do anything about this? This was a weekday morning, and there were loads of spaces.

At the same time, do I contest the parking charge using the standard template letter?

Re PCN number:

I dispute your 'parking charge', as the keeper of the vehicle. I deny any liability or contractual agreement and I will be making a complaint about your predatory conduct to your client landowner.

There will be no admissions as to who was driving and no assumptions can be drawn. Since your PCN is a vague template, I require an explanation of the allegation and your evidence. You must include a close up actual photograph of the sign you contend was at the location on the material date as well as your images of the vehicle.

No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

You should COMPLAIN to the shopping centre landlord,  the management company in charge of the running of the whole place,  known as plan A in the newbies sticky thread in announcements near the top of the forum by coupon mad

Contest the NTK pcn letter before the 28 day deadline,  but try to space them out,  complaint ASAP,  appeal later on as keeper

No blabbing about who was driving

The number of spaces and free parking are not the issues, the signage,  markings and the driver being a genuine customer are

Why did the driver do that? How badly? You can't do this at retail parks. Bound to get a PCN. By the way, I am on your side (no paying this scam) but why do drivers do this?
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
