Could someone tell me please, if the WFA  payment of £500 paid in 2023 was tax free? Or was it classed as income for tax purposes?

According to this page it is not included in taxable income:
https://www.gov.uk/income-tax/taxfree-and-taxable-state-benefits

I'm trying to find the basis for it in legislation but I can't quite.  WFP appears to be a social fund payment, if that helps anyone else trying to have a look.

It was tax free.

Even under the new system it isn't going to be classed as taxable income.
