I know the cost of car insurance has risen for everyone over the last few years like everything else but can anyone recommend a good company to purchase car insurance for someone that is over 80. Have used gocompare and confused.com but need to try and find more competitive deal if possible. Any feedback appreciated.

The aggregators are the most likely to have the best deal for you, people buying from them prioritise price over quality or value and so companies do what they can to cut prices (sometimes by cutting cover) because if your not within £5 of the cheapest your chances of selling is almost 0.

You can look at those that dont play on the aggregators like the standard Aviva product and a few brokers like Adrian Flux or those aimed at the more mature generations like Saga or Age UK but the probability is they won't be cheaper.

The cheapest I found was Tesco, I’m 85 Jaguar XE 2016

My second year with them the renewal increased considerably so I rang them and they gave me a loyalty discount that is now unbeatable

     (for me)

If the comparison engines are coming in around the same ballpark, then that IS the market competitive price.

The simple truth is that elderly drivers are a high risk of claiming, hence a high premium. They aren't high-speed dramatic crashes, but lots of low-speed scrapes and bingles.
