Parking ticket issued - but i had paid and displayed!

Hi everyone,

Today i parked my car on Bexley Road, Erith (ok not a nice place), paid my 40p for an hours parking and went off to do my job.

I come back 5 minutes before the ticket expired, and found a lovely PCN on my windscreen.

I was obviously livid at this, having parked in the correct bay, and had not overstayed my time!

The reason given was that the ticket was not clearly displayed. I have a picture to prove this was not the case and i really do hope Bexley council have one too! The ticket was displayed on the drivers side window and showed time, amount paid, the serial number, in fact everything you needed to see to be quite obvious to anyone that i had paid and displayed.

I had to put it on the drivers window because it was very windy. I suspect the traffic warden didnt even look beyond my dashboard or windscreen to see my ticket displayed on the drivers door window.

How will i fare in disputing this? How can you saw if a ticket is clearly displayed, even if upside its still clear if you tilt your head!!

Help please, because i aint paying this fine!

Gareth

I would have thought you have a good case for the charge to be waived.

A lot of useful information, including explanations of both the enforcement and the appeals process, is given on the parkingandtrafficappeals.gov.uk website

Didnt get very far, had a letter back saying tough i have to pay it, i rang them up and they said a picture of the windscreen was taken and notes taken about the other windows, however as mentioned before my ticket was on the drivers side window. I am now stuck because they are sticking to their words and next step would be an NTO.

I'm not willing to wait months for this to be sorted, i'm moving house in 2 weeks, my wife gives birth in 2 months and work is just mental at the moment, but have learnt now from bitter experience to carry some sellotape and stick the ticket to the windscreen on windy days because i am not risking it again.

I would lose more than £30 having to attend court and at least now its over, as i made the payment online this morning. £30 quid may be a weeks shopping for us but the worry of waiting for a decison by the council is not worth it.
