Late payment

I checked multiple times and my Lloyds credit card statement definitely says . "We'll take your Direct Debit of £3.58 from your bank account on 30/06/25." Payment due to reach account by 30/06/25.
It wasn't taken. On the afternoon of the 30th I paid it manually from the current account. It's dated 30/06 on credit card transactions but shows as cleared on 01/07.
I was aware that the direct debits stop being taken after a period of time if not used but thought if that was the case it wouldn't say on the statement that it would be taken.
Credit card balance is £0. Estimated interest £0.02 (but I've paid in full). Might I still get a missed payment charge for paying late?

It always used to be 13 months - during Covid, most banks raised that to 24 months. Subsequently, some banks have left the "dormancy period" as 24 months, some have reverted to 13 months. But if your DD had been deleted due to inactivity, your credit card issuer wouldn't be aware of that until they came to collect the DD - hence why it said "to be collected by DD" on your statement. They simply use the information they have on file for you - in much the same way as it's your responsibility to ensure there are sufficient funds in your account to cover the DD.
Possibly. But if you do, give them a call, be very polite and contrite, explain that you realise it's your fault. If it's the only time you've missed a payment, most card issuers are actually very understanding and may very well refund any late payment charge as a gesture of goodwill.Jami74 said:Might I still get a missed payment charge for paying late?

In the normal run of things when a DD is cancelled the merchant is informed. Do you know definitely that a bank cancelled DD isnt informed to the merchant or are you speculating? But if your DD had been deleted due to inactivity, your credit card issuer wouldn't be aware of that until they came to collect the DD - hence why it said "to be collected by DD" on your statement. And I guess it's possible that different banks do things differently.Apologies if I've given misleading information.

Merchant is not informed when the DD has expired, but they will get a message when asking for funds advising them of the reason.DullGreyGuy said:

As OP paid on time, then they will be OK.Life in the slow lane2 -
Thanks, I knew about the dormancy thing but got thrown because it is a Lloyds current account and Lloyds credit that sit one on top of the other in the app.But if your DD had been deleted due to inactivity, your credit card issuer wouldn't be aware of that until they came to collect the DD - hence why it said "to be collected by DD" on your statement.
I'll contact them and explain my error. It's my first ever credit card mishap so would be nice to avoid a fee if I can.
Next statement isn't due for a couple of weeks and I won't be using it for a few months.Debt Free: 01/01/2020
