    When taking out car insurance in particular, I first look at the company as it needs to be a good/respected company that will provide a good serice if/when required. Then I look at the price. Having looked at the aforementioned, often, the better known companies charge no 'admin fee' for some items if you do this 'online.'  IIRC, it was Aviva a few years ago and thening may have changed as I'm now with someone else.

    You was lucky as often the staff on the frontline just read from a script, "so sorry but there is nothing I can do.."

    There is no legal reason for anyone to change their status. Is that not the reason the term Ms is used. My Granddaughter and Hubby still go by their single names .They are both published PHDs and as she said they worked far too to give up their names.  The only concession is they have presented us with a gorgeous baby and her surname will be double barrelled -  I am not bothered what they call her just as long as I get to give her hugs and spoil her.
