Pay as You Go roaming

Hi experts.
I had a look online, but it is confusing for me. In about a month we are going abroad. My provider ID have roaming included in plan and 30GB data limit. I am little bit worried that that will be not enough for my wife and kids. So i am thinking to get pay as you go SIM card, load it with data and when my limit kicks in, just switch cards or use my spare phone as tether. Can you / will you be able to give me some ideas which provider (pay as you go) is the best for this kind of circus? Or do you have different and better ideas? Please help me. Thank you.

Where are you travelling? EU country like France? Ireland? USA? This makes a difference.
It's not quite pay as you go, but Lebara do a 30day plan which would offer you another 30GB for £10. Looking at their website that's the maximum amount of data on their plans for roaming purposes, even if you have a bigger data allowance at home.
Alternatively does your phone have esim capabilities?0 -
30GB is a huge amount, what are you actually planning to use it for?0

Check your provider's website, it is often reasonable to buy extra data before you travel. And make sure you have a spend cap in place!0

You might want to check out saily.com. I don't know if it's any cheaper as I haven't used it, but a lot of Youtubers I watch use it as it's a virtual SIM and you don't have to chop and chnage SIM cards0 -

ok, I've just Turkey as an exmaple (as that's where we are planning to go) and they do unlimited data for 15 days, for about £35. It might be more expensive but could be deemed easier and less faff without having to worry about going over your data allowance, plus no swapping of SIM cards0 -
We are driving to Slovakia first and then Poland and then back to UK. Yes, my phone does have e-sim. I still believe pay as you go with free roaming and loaded with, lats say, £20 -£30 will work. We have old pixel 6a as spare phone so I can have sim there and use it if necessary.Emmia said:Where are you travelling? EU country like France? Ireland? USA? This makes a difference.

30GB huge amount of data?? Ohh well, let me introduce to our travel from UK to Slovakia (over 20 hours) then after week in SK to Poland (over 10 hours) and then back to UK ( another 20 hour trip). Trust me, no matter what you plan is ( as fun games for kids) you have to introduce tablet and our movie server at home. So i have feeling, 30GB is like nothingla531983 said:30GB is a huge amount, what are you actually planning to use it for?

I use ID mobile and have just been abroad to a country with free roaming. As it happens halfway through the holiday my bill date happened so allowances reset. This might help although in my case I didn't come close to 30gb.0
