Morning all from sleep deprived Mehefinland
Been awake since before 5 - i blame the crows with their hobnail boots on thundering along the roof. One downside of living in a bungalow !
Looks like another sunny day in prospect, although not as hot as some have been having thank goodness. I don't 'do' heat very well, or sun for that matter. I would be the only white one on a beach (until I turned lobster red) lol.
Will try to pop back later

Good morning Mehefin, hope you can catch up on some sleep later.
Very dull outside, today forecast is for a cooler day, thank goodness. Yesterday was overcast all day but very humid.
I'm going to Lids today as my freebie offers run out. Trying to think of different things to eat, we are also stuck in the chicken and salad meals. I asked DH for ideas and his suggestion was kievs. You can tell he doesn't do the cooking.
Other than that nothing else planned, will just see what the day brings.
Have a good day all, take care.

Good morning 😊
Thanks for the start @mehefin
I, too, have been up since silly o’clock. It is a lot cooler here compared to yesterday, although I had to open the back door when I got up, as it was still very warm in the kitchen. Dinner tonight, will be an easy one - gammon, egg, and chips for the meat eaters, and vegan sausages, chips, and salad for me.
Today’s chores:
1) Deep clean the living room, including sweeping and mopping the floor ✅
2) Wash cushion covers ✅
3) Pick up and put away ✅
4) Vacuum underneath cushions ✅
5) Clean windows ✅
6) Wash curtains ✅
Hope you all have a good day 😊13 -
Morning folks and thanks MEHEFIN. I managed to sleep marginally better last night thanks to the slight drop in temps. We never got the promised thunderstorms yesterday, nor any rain either. But it looks a bit damp out there so we must have had a smidgen through the night. Thankfully it feels much fresher this morning so heatwave over, until the next one!
It's bus trip day and a much better day for it. It would have been horrendous in Monday's heat. So the usual trawl of Skipton market, a couple of cs and then our wine 'n' dine lunch with much catching up being done. It's always am enjoyable day.
I hope you had a lovely lazy birthday YL with not a paintbrush in sight. You prompted me to see which celebs I share a birthday with and I am a twin of Liza Minnelli, same date and even same year. We'll both be 80 next March. When did I get so old!
Have a lovely day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for all in need of them. Take care all and stay safe xx

Morning allA cooler day here too, thank goodness. It's damp here as well. Just seen a few splashes on the window and it's getting a bit harder now. At least I won't have to water the garden then!Just checked who I share my birthday with too. Charles Bronson which is comical since I worked in a prison for 25 years, oh and Freddie Flintoff tooA bit of housework today and then, hopefully the rain will stop and I can hang some washing out.Wimbledon again this afternoon methinks.Have a good day all.11

Morning All
Raining this morning, glad I got the garden sorted yesterday - cut all the edges of the grass and clipped back a few things, weeded and cut the grass, it looks lovely at the moment.
2 hours of digging yesterday trying to get rid of the clay and put in some compost at allotment 2, it's going to be years before it's decent enough to grow anything apart from potatoes.
I've been for a swim and will go and collect the little one once I've had a shower, it'll be a quiet day as she has her dance show this evening (if she does it, she only decided to do it last week). I'll be going along with Granny, Auntie and her Dad.
Hope you get a nap later Mehefin.
Have a good day. Take care. XX12 -
Morning all. Dry and cooler here today, with rain forecast for later, so I've put the washing on the airer for now.
Off to help at the Larder this morning then dashing home for a quick lunch before driving to Aylesbury for a Morris booking for a W I group. After that I'm out again in St Albans this evening for an annual folk evening, where they close the road for 2 hours and have various groups dancing. Great fun but limited parking so you have to get there well ahead of time.
I knew I was exactly a year older than Chris Evert but didn't know I share my birthday with Jane Fonda and the late Frank Zappa!
Happy snoozes Mehefin and take care all.10 -
Morning all - thanks for the start @mehefin - I hope that you can catch up later.Yesterday turned into an almost glorious day. Not as hot as down south but a very comforting and comfortable temperature without rain. The sun is so energising until it makes one limp!My mower battery arrived late morning so I charged it up. The order of new towels also arrived so they were stuck in the WM, given a quick whirl and then out on the line. In the same box was my whimsical order of a butter knife, pastry forks and dessert spoons.
The butter knife because my knives have pointy thin ends and useless for getting butter. The others because I'm fed up using the 'big' cutlery for small things. I know, it's madness at my age.
Once the battery was ready I was so pleased to cut the back lawn, the grass was so long that it was still wet underneath but I just cracked on. There's now two bags of cuttings to take to the tip this morning. In-between times I tackled the monthly banking, there's still a little bit do today as a couple of accounts don't update until the second day of the month. The car boot got a clear out, it became a kind of dumping ground so all that was sorted too. I found the lid of the blender which I had given to a friends' daughter last month so I wrapped it up, drove down to the lovely Tarbert and posted it off. What a lovely drive, it cheered me up.Today may well be fine too so I'll look at doing outside things, like sitting in the garden perhaps. The Princess Royal is visiting the next village and, I think, our local museum so there's a load of 'other people' around. She keeps a yacht nearby so is well known here but an official visit is higher profile and visible.
I hope that all are well, safe and peaceful. Hugs all round.10 -
Good morning
Thank you for the start @mehefin
Couldn't get to sleep last night until about 4 am, so I'm exhausted before the day has begun and my milk, for my first cuppa of the day, has gone off, luckily got more in the freezer.
Feels cooler but no sign of the rain which was forecast.
Belated birthday wishes YL
Take careIf you walk at night no-one will see you cry.11 -

Morning all! About ten degrees colder today and it actually feels cold. It's lovely, even the cats are enjoying it. I have some wood to chop up today, old fence panels etc ready for a tip run tomorrow and the car to fill up obviously. Rest of the day is fluid, there are lots of jobs to do anywhere I look so whatever takes my fancy.Camelot, I'm beginning to think the same abut mine, bindweed is so rampant I'll be years getting rid of that..Gers, sounds like a fun drive! Iadmire her too, no nonsense. WL, you don't half do some miles! Izzy, how was the concert? Take care all, it'll be easier in the cool!Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi11
