Outgoing Octopus errors and missing data.

I think I’m going down a rabbit hole and would really like to be saved before I make a complete idiot of myself.

I recently received a credit for my Outgoing Octopus tariff. After checking all the data, I found several days were missing. I contacted Octopus and a few days later all the missing days export data showed up, but no further credits were made for the missing periods. I contacted Octopus again, and they maintain the amount I exported is correct suggesting the missing export days have been included.

So, I manually added up all the days export for the credit period and it is short by the exact amount equal to the missing days. Other apps, my own Solar PV data concur the figures.

Do I have any options?

Have you checked your “outgoing export” statement that octopus sent you ?
It shows the smart meter reading for the start and end of the period - ie the monthly export amount , and the payment is simply this figure times 15p / KWh . How do these figures compare with your data ?

Daily readings are not used for export payments

Outgoing Octopus is not billed on half-hour readings, it uses the daily register readings at the start and end of the billing period so missing half-hour periods would not affect it...
Sure you are not on the Agile Outgoing tariff?

@northernsparky  No meter readings are shown, just the kWhs.

@MWT Deffo on Outgoing Octopus.  So, do I ignore what my apps and PV data show and just work of the meter readings?

My apps (Octopus and Bright) along with my inverter data show I exported around 450 kWh in a defined period. Octopus say it is around 395 kWh.  Hence the rabbit hole !

Inverter data is usually the least reliable, but check the meter readings on your bills, they should be contiguous from one bill to the next (closing reading on one should be the opening reading on the next).
As long as that is true then you are being paid for everything you have exported.
If they are not contiguous then you have your answer...

This is a typical bill entry for Octopus Outgoing:

I have meter readings on my account, but none are noted on the bill as shown above. I have been adding up the daily, weekly, and monthly readings to determine the total for the billing period.

I appreciated what is being said about half hour readings, however, all the readings gathered should add up to the period in question?  For example, I was missing three days of data which was reflected in the weekly meter reading. When Octopus did whatever they did and the missing daily readings appeared in my account, the overall reading also changed to reflect that.

I have checked my meter readings for the period in question and it matches the way I manually calculated it above. Which is more than Octopus have recorded?

You can submit manual reading any time you like. That's what I'd do, given it's a flat rate. A meter reading at the end of the month should resolve any prior errors.

I think you've just got me out of the rabbit hole. Sometimes, the answer is simple and staring me in the face. Hence why I come here, to avoid making myself look like an idiot to Octopus.

Once my next payment is made, it will obviously include the missing payment via the two meter readings (exactly what all the posters on this thread have been telling me). Sometimes I cant see the wood for the trees !
