    The fire brigade were giving warnings on these a while back... there have been plenty of cases of people buying cheap/fake chargers and they overheat and ignite which when a plug isnt not great but if you see them starting to smoke/blacken/melt then you can turn the switch off. Some sockets are built to the same low standards but clearly you can't just flick a switch or pull it out if it starts to go up

    I would know to go to the consumer unit and turn off the ring but wife/kids etc may not
    It might be an idea to check and give them a quick heads up if necessary.... ;):)

    she could have done it 100 times and have it tattooed on her arm, wouldnt make any difference, she isnt good under stress

    I have had two wall sockets with usb connections fail within a few months of installation. Googling shows this is a widespread issue. And one warns of dangers -

    We replaced the sofa last year and half of the ones they were selling had built in USB ports. I never leave anything on charge (USB or otherwise) if I'm going out.

    i know this is an old post but since you don't plug devices directly into the socket all you would need to do is replace the cable, not the socket.

    Since 2019, every new plug socket we fitted has USB ports. All MK brand. All fine this far.
