Searches have been done for a flat my brother is buying. The solicitor has sent him loads of report which he does not understand. Surely I thought it is the job of the solicitor to advise on the search results as we do not understand any of it. Thanks

The solicitor will comment on anything unusual or worthy of note from a legal perspective. Remember they haven't seen the property. Buyers need to arrive at their own decisions. Ask questions as neccessary.0

What does he not understand? Has he told the solicitor he doesn’t understand?0

Alongside all the huge load of information sent, the solicitor should send him a report in which they draw his attention to anything they think he needs to carefully consider or that may be a bit out of the ordinary etc, and that report is so that your brother doesn't need to try and understand everything by himself, the solicitor is the one with the expertise. If there is anything in the report from solicitor he isn't sure about, he can speak to his solicitor for clarification.0
