Avast security displays my VPN as London England but trying to see Wimbledon on live BBC I get the message "this content is not available at your location"
I wonder why and what can I do

VPNs often funnel large quantities of requests through the same IPs so those offering content with territorial limits can fairly easily identify them and certainly some will block IPs of known VPNs. Some VPNs change their IPs and so it's a game of cat and mouse.Grandad99 said:Avast security displays my VPN as London England but trying to see Wimbledon on live BBC I get the message "this content is not available at your location"

Avast suggest they have 3 uk locations, have you tried one of the others?
I use ExpressVPN for accessing US content via Netflix etc and it's just a case of occasionally changing the city selected to see which one works best.2 -
Where are actually located?
Could be that BBC just block VPN to stop people from out of UK watching for free.

If you're really in the UK turn off your VPN.
Many VPN IP addresses become known to streaming services and are then blocked as overseas users may be trying to access content that should not be available to them.
If you have a paid VPN, try another server.2 -
Thanks everyone. I'm actually in Kent. Will try your suggestions.0

Well I do need one, but because I want to access my home systems when not at home, but my VPN is powered by my Asus mesh.Grandad99 said:bob2302 Why?
If you go out of the country then you would want one to access UK sites, similarly if you want to access say the US from the UK4.8kWp 12x400W Longhi 9.6 kWh battery Giv-hy 5.0 Inverter, WSW facing Essex . So most people are happy that their ISP records every web site they visit and stores it for any council, ambulance service, customs and uncle Tom Cobley to view? It’s nicknamed “The Snooper’s Charter”.bob2302 said:Most people don't need VPNs anymore anyway.
Hotel, hospital, cafe and library WiFi is plain insecure too.
Many of us use a VPN for privacy, as well as being able to remotely access anything on my home network while away. I use Nord VPN for private browsing and for remote access, Tailscale (free for personal use and very easy to setup).2 -
Insecure cafe wifi? In that case your device is compromised before you are even connected to your vpn service provider.Be aware that 'security' advertising people exaggerate risks and will say that their product will 'protect' you against things it never can. (Basically insurance sales, with no payout when things go wrong).0

I was staying at a hotel recently where the iPad gave me a warning that encrypted DNS was being blocked on their WiFi. Suspicious indeed.0
