Firstly, keep your chin up. There's many of us (myself included) who have been in terrible financial trouble at one time in our lives and we all know how awful you are feeling.
I cleared all my debts by going to the CCCS - Consumer Credit Counselling Service (http://www.cccs.co.uk/). They are a registered charity and unlike places you see advertised on the TV they do not charge you anything to help. They send you a form for you to write down all your expenditures and all the people you owe money to then they contact the creditors on your behalf. They work out how much you can afford to pay without you having to struggle and if you ever receive letters from your creditors they will also deal with this for you. We expected to have to wait 5 or 6 years to pay off the amounts we owed but eventually we paid everything off in just under 3 - we owed thousands
This is just my 2p as this is what worked for me and like most of the terrible things that can happen to us in our lives admitting the problem is the biggest step of all, it will get easier I promise.
Good luck0 -

I'm so glad for you. I felt overwhelmed by the relief once I'd spoken to them and 2 weeks today the very last of my bad debts should be removed from our Experian and Equifax credit files. The only "debt" that's left is the mortgage and fortunately we never got into arrears with that.
Good luck with everything.0 -
