Airbnb last minute cancellation

We've just come back from our holiday travelling around Italy.  One of the Airbnb's (a managed property) told us when we were en route travelling to the house (about two hours before check in) that the booking was cancelled, despite us completing all our check in/tourist tax etc.,
We got a full refund, but the only place we were able to find in a similar area (not in the town we wanted to be located in), cost us twice as much.  Airbnb compensated us $200 but this wasn't nearly enough to cover the cost of the new Airbnb.  Do you think it's worth bothering with holiday insurance or just now leave it?

See if your insurance will cover it - that's always worth looking into. Only you can decide if it's worth the effort though.
I'd be pushing AirBnB for more; they made need some pushing though. I've had similar with Booking.com and it took a fair bit of legwork but in the end they paid the full amount I felt they owed me for a similar situation.

They've said a number of times that they won't go above $200 compensation plus the refund of the accommodation but might give the insurance company a nudge and see what they say
