IBAN child account to receive flight compensation

A 7 year old child needs a bank account to receive flight delay compensation. As the compensation goes to passenger named on ticket rather than the adult who paid for ticket.
Emirates won't deal with Starling Bank UK or Revolut.
I created a Lloyds Bank Child Saver, but Emirates stated the IBAN provided is not an international IBAN. And Lloyds online support has not been helpful and just provide the same details that is listed on account page.
Before I go making further accounts can anyone give feedback on child accounts that will receive internal IBAN payment sent as GBP.

Why won't they "deal with" Starling?
Having just claimed compensation from an overseas airline Starling made it fairly easy as the airline wanted tithe IBAN and SWIFT on headed paper and Starling has a built in letter you can download exactly for this.0 -
Emirates are wrong, an IBAN is an IBAN, there's no "international" version. Can we assume that the IBAN has the formatAgram said:A 7 year old child needs a bank account to receive flight delay compensation. GBnnLOYDssssssaaaaaaaa
for the Lloyds account (n are check digits, s sort code, a account no)? Usually supplied with Lloyds BIC.
I'm sure you are looking at the same Lloyds page I am to get the details, you'll have to get more information from Emirates as to why there's an issue.
And @DullGreyGuy is right, no reason at all why they shouldn't deal with Starling - Revolut can still not be on everyone's happy list.0 -
IS there any account name checking on an IBAN payment? Couldnt you just give them your own and they would be none the wiser?1

No verification on the IBAN itself (it's just a bank account) but international payments will require the recipient's name as minimum, and often the address. Banks will generally try to "match" on the recipient's name as standard diligence as with any other incoming payment.la531983 said:IS there any account name checking on an IBAN payment? I'd complaint to the airline further. Your International Bank Account Number is most definately an international identifier for your bank account...0

Thank you all for the advice. I'm assuming the branch address I provided doesn't match to the other details, when they search database,
IBAN starts GB87LOYD and the full code brings back a Birmingham address, according to Wise. Sort code brings correct BIC and address as PO Box 1000, BX1 1LT which is what I used.0 -
A very late reply, for anyone with similar issue in the future who finds this by search.
Lloyds was no good as the account was opened under an adult umbrella account. So the account holder name was the adults name rather than the child's name. Even thought account screen listed child's name.
HSBC MySavings account for 7+ year old child worked.5 -

The I in IBAN stands for international.........................0 -
Glad it was sorted. Personally I'd have been on to Emirates to ask why they are insisting on sending a compensation payment for a 7 year old to them and not the parent. In fact I'd be insisting on it going to me if it was for my child. I deal with Emirates most days in my work and their junior (and not so junior!) people do have a tendency to make stuff up but relent if properly challenged. What would they do if it was a 2 year old?0

Don't think a ticket for air travel would normally differentiate an individual as child or adult, or indeed any age at all.Jetstreamer said:Glad it was sorted. I guess a refund would go back to the purchaser but compensation (as in the OP case) goes to the passenger.0
