Grumpy Washing machine

I have a Samsung ecobubble that I bought 7 years ago.
It only wants to work once a day!
After the first successful wash, the timer blinks but the washing machine never goes to the spin cycle and the drum does not rotate. After a while, the door gets unlocked but the water remains alongwith wet clothes. No matter how many times I retry after that, I get no where!

Samsung wants £145 to send out an engineer to have a look. I guess there will be further charges for parts and if the engineer has to make subsequent visits.
What do I do here? Buy a new washing machine?

In practical terms it may not be ideal, but would it be possible to simply make it think that every wash is the first of the day, by turning off the power at the mains supply after every wash? That might involve having to use a switched extension lead of course, because often the socket that a washing machine is plugged into is not easily accessible - and of course an arrangement like that would need to be able to safely carry the full current (quite likely to have a 3kW heating element so it would need to be 13A rated).0

Hi Android.
Does it give an error code?
If it's the last wash stage that fails, have you tried turning it off, waiting for 5, and then going direct to the 'rinse & spin' prog?
Our Bosch does this at regular intervals, and I think it's down to the drain pump being partially stuck. Sometimes the cause was very obvious - coins and stuff - but I also found hair wrapped around the spindle, and made a wee tool.out of a bike spoke - L-shaped with a flat sharpened tip, to scrape away enough hair to make it work again. For a few months.
So, pump filter cap off, and shine a torch in there.0 -
