Morning all...Went to a wedding thing yesterday, did some drinking, shiockingly was very tipsy
It was nice though and I saw our ex builder who had been in hopsital for months so I gave him a big hug whether he wanted one or no, I was so pleased to see him looking almost human. Today I do some grass cutting at the allotment, and sit down and think about rejigging that too for next year. I want to make it more a produce garden than an allotment if that makes sense.
TTB what a lovely looking walk, well done for doing that much in this heat! The soup sounds lovely..Izzy, you're not a sad old bat. I often think about who#s going to be populating old peoples homes in the future and it'll be us lot, the ravers, the hippies, the punks, metal heads, goths etc..Should be fun when it's party timeremmie, enjoy the cherries, it's a miracle the birds haven't eaten them all! Rosy, yup, a chippy tea for two of us now is twenty quid or thereabouts, a far cry from the tenner it used to be...Off to do stuff, take care all!

@IzzyBee another old biddy here then. I loved Marc Bolan too. Got to see him once as well. Oh and David Essex added to the list too! I'm not a big Glastonbury fan either but always enjoy the oldie slot. Getting sticky and hot here. Could do with the breeze I've been moaning about for the last couple of months. Never happy me!8

Morning all, not much sun here atm, and there has been a smattering of rain during the night- I may not need to water the plants in the pots.Hoping to put the washing out.Yesterday we had a little run to a BnM to get some crucial items- DH favourite beer! Shock horror, they didn't have any so he had to make do with another kind. Called in at the nearby Sainsbugs to get some flowers for DSiL as it'sher birthday this week. They weren't in but just as we were hiding them behind the bin DN came by to drop some trophies off - they were all at DGN football presentation so we were able to at least leave them in waterWe watched the England U21's last night - they won the Euros final against Germany. Haven't watched Glasto but read about the celebs arriving by helicopter at £14,000 return !I can forage blackberries across the road, depends on the type of summer as to whether they are decent.Yorks Lass, we call bilberries Whinberries this side of the Pennines
There are some on the moors but haven't picked them for years. DH loves a good whinberry pie. If I have a bus trip to Bury market, there is a stall that sells the pies.
Lovely photo TTBreaksNot sure if we're doing anything yet, if the grass is wet it won't be much fun at the classic car show. I think it'll be chicken kiev for tea. everyone.Have a good day

@RosyRed - Apparently bilberries have quite a few different names, depending on where you are but they're certainly not blueberries as some people think. We used to pick them too or buy them from Leeds market; sadly a lot of those picking places have been built on and the market hasn't had them for many years. I don't think my children have ever had them in their 40-odd years. There is a shop not too far from me that sells jars of bilberry jam if you don't mind shelling out £4.50 for a jar! I'd rather have a pie though.Be kind to others and to yourself too.7

YL I have always been lucky to live near moorland where they still grow in abundance. Whilst at the van our best picking spot was Brimham Rocks and the times hikers from further afield asked what we were picking was unbelievable. I remember one asking if I wasn't afraid of getting poisoned!! I said I have been eating them for well over 70 years and it hasn't happened yet!
I think jars are still available from Polish shops but no idea of the price. I am tempting myself now! X"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"8 -
Yeah, wimberries in my parts. I remember going to pick some with a friend and ending up covered in them because we ate loads and then had to sit down but there wasn't anywhere to sit except on top of themNon me fac calcitrare tuum culi7

As kids, we would have trips from Saddleworth to pick bilberries on the banks above Scammonden reservoir, so my dad could have my mum's bilberry & apple pie. We sometimes found them around Dovestones too.2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇
