Moved house Nov 2023. Got a letter from TV Licensing today 28 June 25 asking me if I needed a TV licence. I haven't had a license for about 4 years and told them every year at my old address.
However when I go to the form to tell them I don't want a license it asks me to put in a future date ie when someone will be living in the property (my current home). I can't put a retrospective date in, it won't accept it.
So bit concerned should I have told TV license when I moved into this house even though I never wanted a TV license.
Thanks

Either just bin it or put down 01/01/3035
If you don't need a license then you're under no requirement to answer the letter.0 -
"Either just bin it or put down 01/01/3035 " lol.Just tried the website on a different browser and it lets me bypass the future date.Thank you2

If you don't need a licence, don't tell them anything.3

TV Licensing is simply a BBC trademark, and the things they say to the public have as much factual accuracy as a Doctor Who script.2 -
You do not need to answer the/any letter or have any contact with the BBC - it is just a phishing exercise to get your details on record and encourage them to come to your door to sell you a licence.

they want a date, as that is when they will start sending you reminder letters again0

Totally agree.
The less (preferably nothing) they know about you, the better.0 -

Frame it and sell it on ebay if that really is the case. Most people get threatening letters hinting that your breaking the law by nothaving a licence but not explicitly stating you are breaking the law just enough of a threat to worry people but not land then in trouble.
My recent one says "by law they have no option but to continue their investigation".
In BOLD it states "You are breaching the communications act 2003 if you do not have a TV licence that covers you for...."
I stopped reading at that point and accidently dropped it into the shredder.
I cancelled Prime around the same time and they do not send threatograms.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
