Hi, I'm struggling to get temporary car insurance for my 18 Yr old son on our new MG hybrid. He's previously used Veygo who won't quote on the new car. Has anyone got any suggestions for companies who may offer cover?

The dealer might get him 7 day driveway insurance, at a price.

    DayInsure are pretty good.

What was the duration you attempted with Veygo?  They are fussy on timings for short (couple of hours) durations especially at night but the app isn’t explicit and just says they won’t quote - but move the end time by two minutes earlier and they will.  Or book a minimum one day.

Other than that our experience of Veygo was that they were happy to insure our 18 y/o on our week old hybrid.

@WellKnownSid I can't even get as far as setting the duration with Veygo. It says they won't quote as soon as I enter the registration number. No luck with Dayinsure either

Just add him as a driver and take the pain.

Why are you trying to get temp cover?

Your own insurer may add him to your policy as a temporary additional driver or a permanent named driver depending on the price difference

Is that because the car is so new it’s not on the database of registrations yet so they can’t get the details? Find the reg of same car but older (look on auto trader).
