Hi team !
Just moved in to a brand new 1 bed with the wife - (new build block, 10 flats in total in the building) in London
From what I found on Cheap Energy Club, the current supply is with Eon
Current usage info is obvs wrong as no one has ever lived in the flat
Also have no idea what our kw/h per year will be
Trying to find a good deal to sign up for ....... Any recommendations of who to go with - and the type of tariff to go for too?
Expect to be there 1yr - ideally don't want a 24month contract as hoping to buy somewhere approx this time next year (is a 24hr month contract transferable if I move?)
Thanks all !!

So is it gas and electric or electric only?
Is it storage heaters or some other form of electric heating if heating only.0 -
Create an account with eon for the deemed contract and submit opening readings the day you complete. Then move to your preferred supplier. You will almost certainly need to make some payment to EON while it goes through.

As @Lorian says sign up with EON, but tell us what you have for heating, hot water etc. then you will get some better answers.4.8kWp 12x400W Longhi 9.6 kWh battery Giv-hy 5.0 Inverter, WSW facing Essex . If - and it is an IF - your on a normal domestic energy supply then there will normally still be a deemed supllier. Appointed by builder / freeholder. Possibly even changed by your landlord when purchased.
Register with them, pay for standinb charges and any usage until move if moving, then move that account.
If moving talk to family or friends who might be at your choice - some offer referral codes - money off for you and them.
You will be liable for fees if terminate a long term fix at most suppliers - but some might move to new address under the "move my supply" type services at a few. But many 1 year deals at some are fee free anyway
However beware many flats are not normal domestic supplies.
Some are on business rates to the freeholder or their agencies and rebilled to you. Some are even on district heating systems. Or a mix of district hearing and domestic electricity. Havd seen posts wherenew leaseholders only signed up for one and not both as handover just said EOn - but for 2 entries.
And despite a lot of media attention re rip off rates - in reality just standard commercial - so no Ofgem cap, no EPG discounts during crisis peak etc - many in general population seem blissfully unaware until bites them.
Your landlord, freeholder, builder / conveyencing solicitor if purchased etc etc should have given you the details.
So first things first, as you said tennant, read your agreement re energy arrangements. Talk to the landlord or the agency if not clear..
If not already done so - it's easy for others to say you really should have asked, the problem is you need to know there are other options.
Given its a flat is it coming up EOn Next or say their division that deals with communal tied supplies EOn HEAT - for district heating. If latter you will be tied for heat - there is no switching away.
OR if freeholder commercial - is it simply EOn [EOn Next were the domestic spin off after EOn acquired NPower c2020, not sure what happened to business accounts in UK think they now do small and medium under Next subdivision too but not sure].1 -
Thanks for the help team !! Really appreciated
@Scot_39 - thanks especially ! In answer to your questions, its coming up as :
E.ON Next
Tariff -Next Flex (Price Capped tariff)
.......so seems like for now I should sign up with them anyway as there will be a bill to pay (just moved in 3 days ago) either way
Regarding my flat - answers to others here:
Electric only
Hot water - Electric heat pump for water heating only
Main heating - Room heaters, electric
No district heating in this building
Thanks again !

As it's new build they are probably electric panel heaters. Pricey to run but if it's well insulated you might not need much.
In terms of ease of dealing with a supplier, I like Octopus.Officially in a clique of idiots1 -
Thanks @RedFraggle (feel free to dm me your referral code !)
Octopus are offering (if I lock in this rate)Daily standing charge 44.83p /day Unit rate 24.03p /kWh
Does that seem about right / competitive?
I am all about using the company that is the easiest to work with.........easy sign up, easy to call them and speak to a human etc
Thanks

Does that seem about right / competitive? That's pretty middle-of-the-road as single-rate tariffs go.I'm interested by your heat pump got water system. Is it something like a Tesy Aqua Thermica? Can you share some details?N. Hampshire, he/him. Octopus Intelligent Go elec & Tracker gas / Vodafone BB / iD mobile. Ripple Kirk Hill member.

If your all electric are you sure you want single rate.
Even hot water if used from stored heat overnight would be enough for many low heat users.
Even for 1 -tank off peak and shower cold fed so peak or off peak when can - it's around half my daily summer use - third of my annual use - but I run a colder house cf many. Off peak heating in winter takes me over the threshold to save on multirate annually.
Not sure by what you meant by heat pump water heater. Does it have a tank ? Does it have a heat reservoir / exchanger where metal or oil mass het at off peak ?
Can you give a make / model ?
And does it also feed shower - or is the shower direct electric from cold feed only.
What did you mean by panel heaters.
Radiators, convectors, storage heaters ?
Is there any indication on the meter itself it's a multirate - a 5th port - 5 thick meter tails the most obvious - but for many modern e7 - it's just a time of use tariffs with no restricted supply - so seperate timers like on hw tank and heaters.
It might have a sticker, even timings if multirate.
If you read the meter as is - do you have 1or 2 active registers.
EOn should be able to tell you if currently profile class 01 single rate or profile class 02 multirate. but hopefully fact Octopus quoted single means its pc 01 if that was a direct quote for your address.
