About 12 years ago I opened a store account ( due to offer of a big discount on first purchase). When I gave the shop assistant my paper driving license, he had to get the manager as he had never seen one before.King_Drax_I said:I'm having a lot of trouble with these idiots and if I was to do it all again, I would not put my ISA with them. They are asking me for ID: passport; Driving licence or residence card. My passport has expired, so they won't accept that (even though the UK electoral system does), my driving licence is old-style and I am a UK national so I don't have a residence card. They don't specify that the driving licence has to be a photo ID type until you send them the old-style licence.Thing is, not everyone has a passport and why should I have a new driving licence when I have lived in this house for 30 years? Some people don't live in the real world....
So by now they must be a lot rarer still !
The usual advice is for the sake of a few quid just get a new driving licence, or even passport ( even if you do not use it).
In future it will bring you more and more problems if you do not.
