Holiday Insurance

My husband and I have holiday insurance through our bank. We are going on holiday with our son and wife. We have paid for all the flights and accommodation and my son and his wife have handed over their share of the cost. If my son and his wife have to cancel how do they proof to the insurance company that they paid their share?

Does it matter? If the insurance covers the refund under the Ts&Cs, either you get the money or they get it. I would have thought, as you have paid for everything, they would refund you, and you can then pass the money onto your son.0

That's what I thought when I read the first post.sammyjammy said:OPs insurance company are not going to fork out for the cancellation by members of the party uninsured by them!
OP, why are you worried about your son and his wife paying?
Do they have travel insurance?1 -
They just need to show what the total cost is, they'd be claiming 25% each, it makes no difference if they paid their share or it was a gift they have still lost the opportunity to go.Lizzie600 said:My husband and I have holiday insurance through our bank. The OP would only be able to claim the 50% relating to themselves from their insurance, if their kids were uninsured then the remaining 50% is simply lost. Travel insurance covers the travellers not the payers.Bigphil1474 said:Does it matter? If the insurance covers the refund under the Ts&Cs, either you get the money or they get it. If your son and his wife have to cancel, then you just continue with your holiday without them.Lizzie600 said:My husband and I have holiday insurance through our bank. Your insurance presumable doesn't cover your son & his wife, so why would they want proof of anything? There is no grounds for any claim on your insurance policy.
If your son & his wife are uninsured then they've lost their money. Maybe a lesson for their future holidays.1 -
Is your son and wife likely to seek to cancel for reasons that their insurance company might reasonably regard as acceptable grounds ?If they simply decide they'd rather do something else or go somehere different then that is considered disinclination to travel - no insurer will cover that.0
