Police not doing a thing even when presented on a plate

It's not fair, but it's the state we are in. If they respond to third party evidence, they've still got to look into it, and then determine if the driver was the registered keeper, prove they were actually the ones behind the wheel in your photo, etc etc. If you are lucky they will sometimes send the registered keeper a letter saying "do better or risk a fine".To give it some perspective, a drunk and drug driver ploughed through our garden wall a couple years ago. Neighbours went out and took his keys, restrained him, called police. Police came and he was too violent to provide a breath test. He refused a blood test at the station. He was already out on bail for other drug and drink driving offences. We later learned that all charges were dropped as they could not provide enough evidence that it was him driving, even though there were 5+ witnesses who saw him, restrained him etc. That's what we're dealing withMerlin139 said:I have enough to worry about in my own life to be generally worried about what other people are or aren’t doing
Plus I would be a tad hypocritical to say I’ve never committed a traffic offence (speeding) - as I imagine would the vast majority of drivers
I'm talking about people driving while more interested in their phone (a big peeve of mine) especially when a phone mount is so cheap on ebay. It's not limited to young people either as you may expect, I've found all sorts guilty of this. Young, old, male, female, rally boys, businessmen.
Oops - edit to add businesswomen. Don't want anyone to feel excluded.0 -

Anyway bikers were good as gold but at the end of the straight is a kink and a car comes round, shoots on the other side of the road and I'm not sure what he was hoping for as even without me being there he wouldn't have gotten passed two cars, two bikes and the lorry but he seemed not to notice me until I slammed my fist on the horn. Had to come to a complete stop to let him back in.
In terms of phone usage it's reported as being worse than being over the limit (to certain degree I guess).
Yes of course none of us are perfect but my kid doesn't deserve to grow up without a parent and suffer the emotional shortcomings from that for the rest of their life because of someone else's stupid driving and some people really do take the preverbal.
I just pull over and let the tailgaters go, usually meet them again 10 minutes later stuck behind a milk tanker....
Generally driving round here is shocking, when it quiet people fly like lunatics, in the holidays the tourists all drive around at 36 on national speed limit roads looking at the scenery, neither seem to have any concern for anyone else on the road.In the game of chess you can never let your adversary see your pieces2 -
I think the driving in general is worse now than when I passed 20+yrs ago. I see a lot more me me ME mentality these days than back then.
Lately I've been coming across this one driver who drives like an absolute clown. He'll overtake multiple cars at once where you can't see too far ahead & I've actually found myself bracing myself for him if you will (you know, kind of auto reaction) as I think he's about to get splatted by an oncoming car. Tried to undertake me on a slip road recently. There's a good chance someone will get killed with his driving & I just hope it's nobody else he's involved with. I've considered reporting him to the police too as I've video footage but it looks like they won't do anything at all.
Wait until someone ends up dead & then give the "we need to do more" speech that they like to do.1 -

Others posting that they would not have reported it makes no difference, so no need to justify what you did as you did nothing wrong.1 -
Hello @B0bbyEwing
Coincidentally, a couple of days ago, as we were driving back from a hospital, I had a tailgater in a battered vw Golf behind me. As I approached a very small , busy roundabout and waited for a safe space (as many idiots were not indicating where they were going) the parasite behind me papped his horn. I carried on when it was safe to do so and about 50 yards down the road where it was safe to pull over I did and let the moron pass me and as he passed he waved his hand suggesting he thought I was slow. I followed the clown for a good three miles on roads for 30mph, built-up areas. At every roundabout, he shot off at speed as well as traffic lights but the funny thing is, several down the road as he was waiting to go straight, I caught up with him again and this is where we were to turn right. It dod make me chuckle and sadly, there are many fools like him, well actually bullies that are always trying to pressure others to drive like them, ie idiots.
For the record, I've driven many cars over the many years of driving and have held an advanced driver's licence for years. Not only that, I have a family friend who has travelled with me when I am driving and he has commented that I am a "good driver.....and not got into any bad habits after years of driving" or something like that.
(A few times I've driven on a racing track ie one of those super cars - so i can drive fast but I also know how to drive within the rules and constantly assess the environment/conditions I am in and adjust my driving accordingly.)
As you did, best to let the morons pass by pulling to one side when safe to do so.

They shouldn't actually require the street, just the reg. They'll have access to the owners details & go get in touch with them but they don't bother. There's a roofer who attends my gym who drives with no tax no mot & I've reported the guy 3 times. Nothing has been done at all.
But as in the case I gave the guy had no MOT either which IS the polices business. Or is supposed to be.
Funny thing about that one is a good few years ago I worked with someone who bragged about having no tax no MOT. The guy was a general idiot, I didn't much like him & so when he said all that I reported him.
Police told me to contact DVLA. apparently it's not them I should be reporting to.
I pointed them to the government website & said they must be calling the government liars in that case then (ok let's not go there) because the gov website clearly states report to the police, which I'm doing.
They put all sorts of barriers in my way. They needed clear footage they wanted date stamped footage.
I got them all of that. They still did nothing other than load to their ANPR system. A month or so later I said this guy is still at it, I've told you where he works so why don't you come on down & just have a word, make him get that vehicle road legal.
Finally they did just that but what a carry on it was getting them to just do their job.
Some will say there's bigger things going on in the world & yeah there is but then we could apply that to everything & let everything slide bar the most serious crime. I don't buy in to that way of thinking. I have to tax and MOT my car & so the next person should too.0
