Should I use lettings agents contract or supply my own

I am a relatively new landlord, having only rented to one tenant. Last time the agent did everything and the property was managed. Overall, quite expensive
I cancelled the management after I realised I didn't need it, and this time around I am wondering if I really need to pay them to supply the contract, considering they are available online, even from the Gov website
It's for an AST, simple setup for a small flat in a managed block
Thanks in advance

Where are you getting your draft AST from?? Will it cope with the upcoming (I assume it's England) ?? Any do you have copyright holders permission to use it??
Done any formal training in being a landlord and/or landlord/tenant law??
Suggest you use NRLA documentation ( & education from them ..)
Until challenged in court you , me (& everyone else) don't know if it is valid & watertight...0 -
The one I looked at first is from the Gov website https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/model-agreement-for-a-shorthold-assured-tenancy
There is also a NRLA one which isn't free but is cheap https://www.nrla.org.uk/resources/creating-your-tenancy/assured-shorthold-tenancy-agreements-for-the-whole-property
My property is on the market currently and so it will hopefully be let before the upcoming changes. If it is not then I will reassess
Very true about being challenged in court, though the same could be said about the one provided by the agency? I assume they will take no liability if the AST were to have issues in that case?0
