I have an old Sony TV that needs replacing.  The choice of telly's is quite bewildering. All I need is a TV between 43 to 50 inches. A good picture but doesn't have to be the best in the world. I currently have a Firestick for accessing Prime but I assume apps are built in these days.

Current TV is connected to the Ariel via a coax into a TV point in the wall.  I also have a Panasonic recorder connected to the TV which I would like to use with a new TV.

Happy to spend £400ish.....

Any recommendations please

Amazon's TV's have been generally well reviewed, their next Prime Day sale is in early July and they are likely to feature.

Otherwise, Richer Sounds will be able to sort you out, your TV should come with a 5 year guarantee.

We had a flagship Sony tv that was 55 inches bought in/around 2012. Those days if you went to a bigger screen from about 60 ins onwards pic was rubbish. About 3+ yrs ago we decided to upgrade but did not want another flagship as prices for sony flagship were very high and went a step lower to 65 ins and it is QLED - the pic is staggering

What I noted when we bought the 65 ins tv was almost every tv cost around 400 quid and about 50 ins max had a good pic

We bought our from Richer Sounds - A1 service and free 5 yr Sony guarantee plus year 6 for Richer Sounds - they were the cheapest as the same tv we got was about 300 quid more expensive in John Lewis

Hi.    Does the Panasonic recorder have a HDMI port?  or is it scart?

John Lewis have their summer sale on at the moment, fair few TVs in your price bracket included, all seem to have the JL 5 year guarantee.

Although Richer Sounds and John Lewis are good reputable retailers, on line retailers AO.COM etc are likely to offer the most competitive prices , for a review and recommendations somewhere like this is a good place to check

Your budget will buy a decent TV , and TBH something like a Hisense or TCL with probably offer a better TV for the money than a similar price Sony Samsung or LG , as far as guarantees etc , modern electronics hardly ever fail , it’s a tricky decision to buy an extended warranty , in my case my OLED TV came with a manufacturer 5 year warranty, if it had been an extra offered by the retailer, and would have added hundreds of £’s to the bill , I’d have declined….over 5 years later the TV has been perfect.
