If I have to cancel the holiday I was going on with my husband due to my taking ill and doctor advising against travel, will it pay for the full cost of holiday or just half (since it’s only me that is ill). Tui have said they won’t give refund or credit and to claim from insurance.

Most policies would cover close relatives you are travelling with when it comes to cancellation. The only way to be sure is to contact the insurer.1

So you are both insured on the same policy? You have individual policies? Only one of you is insured?numbercruncher said:If I have to cancel the holiday I was going on with my husband due to my taking ill and doctor advising against travel, will it pay for the full cost of holiday or just half (since it’s only me that is ill). You each claim off your respective policies for your half of the total. Things may get complex if you are insured on seperate policies and the illness is related to a pre-existing condition.1 -
Both insured on the one policy0

Note that if you are both on the same policy normally they deduct TWO excesses from the payment as two people are claiming, but at least you get the bulk of your cost back.numbercruncher said:Both insured on the one policy1 -
Then it will be more simple, you both claim together and technically each get paid 50% but in practice they'll send a single payment.numbercruncher said:Both insured on the one policy
Excesses are simply per person, doesnt matter if you are on the same policies or separate policies. Most dont realise that limits are also per person so a £5,000 cover policy covers a couple for a £10,000 tripdiveunderthebonnet said:
