Second marriage name change

Options
Hi there can anyone help with a question please? I have just got married for the second time and would like to change my name to my maiden name hyphenated with my husbands surname. I never changed my first married name back to my maiden name on my passport etc so I was still known by my first husbands name therefore my marriage certificate will have my first married name on it. Will they allow a change to my maiden name hyphenated wirh my second husbands or will I have to go through deed poll? I hope that makes sense.

Is "they" HMPO or are you talk about someone else?

In principle you just send the marriage cert as the basis for the name change, the cert doesnt state what you will be known as in the future and there are no laws on how names change on marriage in the UK.

A colleague decided they'd invent a "new" surname based on merging parts of the family names together. They didnt say they had any problems updating their name with organisations just using the marriage cert.
