TERMS AND CONDITIONS FOR “ABSOLUTE RADIO PRESENTS GARDEN OASIS WITH WICKES, PLUS WIN £5,000 GIFT VOUCHER” (the “Competition”).

 

These terms and conditions (the “Specific Terms”) for the Competition should be read alongside  our general competition terms and conditions at: http://www.bauerlegal.co.uk/radio-competition-terms.html (the “General Terms”) which will also apply to this Competition. Where there is any conflict between these Specific Terms and the General Terms, the Specific Terms shall prevail.

 

 

1.ENTRY ROUTES AND COSTS

Entries are restricted to 1 [one] per person (“Entrant”).

2.COMPETITION MECHANIC AND HOW TO WIN

In total, there will be 1 [one] winner of the Competition.

 

To be eligible to win, entrants must go online to absoluteradio.co.uk and tell us the following details:

·      Full name

·      Contact details

·      Tick the box about available dates, confirming our production teams being in your garden Monday 21st – Thursday 24th July 2025, or, you are available to go to a location house on Thursday 24th July 2025.

·      Write an ode to the DIY project you are most proud of!

 

The judging will take place in the following way:

·      Entries will be judged by how entertaining, compelling, heart-warming and how deserving the entry is.

·      Entries will then be judged by the Dave Berry breakfast show production team, the production manager and an independent judge.

·      The winning entries will then come to air.

 

We will be shortlisting from the start time of the competition: 00:01 AM 25/06/2025 until 11:59 PM on 13/07/2025 of the competition online entry period. On shortlisting, we will require the nominators to coherently explain their entry and discuss their nomination. The entry must be compelling and match the entry that was entered online. Being called during the entry period does not mean that the entrant has been successful.

 

If the entrant is successful through the shortlist process, they will be bought to air as a finalist* during the Absolute Radio Dave Berry Breakfast show between the (“In Play”) dates and time being 06:00 AM to 10:00 AM from 14/07/2025 - 18/07/2025.

 

All nominators will be called ahead of the competition segment being recorded or brought to air. If the chosen finalist is unavailable when we call them, a backup finalist will be chosen in their place, and the original finalist may miss out on winning. All participants must be available to take a call between the In Play dates and times.

We will shortlist entries at the following dates and times, for the on-air broadcast as follows:

 

• The 1st selection [EG1] of all available entries will be picked at 11am on 10/07/2025 for entry onto the show which will broadcast on 14/07/2025.   
• The 2nd selection [EG2] of all available entries, including those who we picked for the 1stselection above, will be picked at 11am on 11/07/2025 for entry onto the show which will broadcast on 15/07/2025.  
• The 3rd selection of all available entries, including those who we picked for the 1st and 2ndselection above, will be picked at 11am[EG3]  on 14/07/2025 (entries close 11:59 PM on 13/07/2025) for entry onto the remaining shows which will broadcast between 16/07/2025 – 17/07/2025.

 

Once being selected as a finalist by the Absolute Radio production team the entrant will be invited to join on for the on-air portion of the competition.

 

The Absolute Radio Team reserve the right to pre-record any part of this competition with contestants before the 'as-live' broadcast.

 

Entering online does not guarantee you will be invited to play the game or win the prize.

 

All final decisions will rest with the Absolute Radio Production Team.

 

Mechanic of the Garden Oasish Activity

 

As part of winning the competition we will host the Oasis Tribute act in your own garden on Thursday 24th July. This can only take place if the following apply:

·      You will need to allow time for our production teams to reccee your garden space prior to the event.

·      You allow access to your garden from Monday 21st July – Friday 25th July (09:00 AM – 5:00 PM) for set up/prep

·      Your garden has a large enough space to host a small crowd

·      Your garden can fit our stage

·      Your garden has immediate access to it, via an external gate

 

If your garden cannot meet these criteria, we can opt for the alternative option (“Alternative Option”). Additionally, you may opt for the alternative option, if you prefer for us to do so.

 

The Alternative Option

We will use our privately rented garden located at an undisclosed location, where we will provide you and up to 9 others[EG4] [IO5] , hotel and travel to join for our event (based on 5x sharing rooms in a local hotel).

 

3. ENTRY PERIOD

Entries must be submitted during the following entry period:

 

Online Pre-registration: From 2:01 PM 25/06/2025 (the “Start Time”) to 11:59 PM 13/07/2025 (“End Time”).

 

On-air Competition: From 14/07/2025 – 18/07/2025 each morning (until 17/07/2025) a finalist will be brought to air during the Dave Berry Breakfast Show between 06:00 – 10:00. The on-air finalists will be given information of when the exact date timings will be ahead of being brought to air.

 

Entries received before the Start Time or after the End Time will be invalid.

 

Winner Announcement.

The winner announcement will take on the show broadcasting on 18/07/2025 – during the Absolute Radio Dave Berry Breakfast Show.

The name and the hometown of the winners will be announced on the Absolute Radio Breakfast show each week during the competition period. The online winner details are available by contacting win@bauermedia.co.uk

4. ENTRY RESTRICTIONS AND CONSIDERATIONS

• Open to UK residents aged 18 years or over on date of entry.
• One entry per person.
• Our employees (and their family members) or employees of any company involved in the Competition, including any Prize Provider, are not permitted to enter.
• If you or any other person at your household has won a prize valued at £500 or more on any Bauer brand in the past 6 months, you nor they are not eligible to enter or win this competition. The full list of Bauer Media brands can be found here: https://www.bauermedia.co.uk/brands 

Additional considerations if you host the event in your own garden:

Primary Option

·      You must have a suitably sized space for this activity to take place in a garden that has direct access. Considerations for a stage and a space for the team to view the performance.

·      Absolute Radio production team must have availability to your garden between Monday 21st July – Friday 25th July for set up, production and pack down.

·      Your garden must be large enough to fit a stage, and you will need to give the production team permission to build the stage. There will also be a dance floor made out of temporary decking, which will be supplied. We are aware that certain items may cause damage to the ground surface of your garden as a result of this activity. Absolute Radio will make all attempts to prevent, and correct any such damage if it occurs.

·      The garden must have immediate access via an exterior gate.

·      You must accommodate the guestlist as provided by Absolute Radio.  

·      You must provide room for an electrical/ power generator to be used as part of this activity.

·      There must be capacity for at least 30 Absolute Radio and associated teams to work within your garden.

If you can not agree to any of the above bullet points, then the Alternative Option will be used where the following additional considerations apply:

Alternative Option

·      You must be available to travel on Thursday 24th July for a daytime performance of the tribute band. This could be to any part of the UK, as Absolute Radio sees fit.

·      Hotel accommodation will be provided for you and up to 9 additional guests you choose to bring.

Additional considerations for either options:

·      You will give permission to be featured in an Absolute Radio social video that will be posted on both Absolute Radio social media accounts as well as the client’s (Wickes). This will include your likeliness. Additional content may be filmed for social media accounts by the band and other agencies involved in the project. This filming may take place prior, on and after Thursday 24th July 2025. Date details will be arranged with you. This filming will take place to cover your DIY project that you use the prize money for as well as a highlight of the band’s performance and event.

·      If, for any reason, the Winner is uncontactable and/or cannot host the Primary Option and/or attend the Alternative Option, then the Absolute Radio production team have the right to continue the activity without the Winner and have the option to select another shortlisted Entrant to utilise the applicable, Primary or Alternative Options to facilitate the prize. As such, the original Winner will forfeit their prize and that the shortlisted Entrant will receive the full prize as described in 5. THE PRIZE.

5. THE PRIZE

There will be 1 (one) winners of this competition and can win:

Prize Details:

·      You will win an exclusive tribute band performance of Oasish. This will be either:

o  Primary option: In your garden.

o  Alternative Option: In an undisclosed location, as chosen by Absolute Radio, where you will be allowed to bring a further 9 guests with you with travel (up to £75 per person) and shared three-star accommodation (5x twin rooms) will be covered.

·      £5,000 Wickes Gift Card to spend in store

Note: This gift card is only available to spend in Wickes stores across the UK. It is not possible to spend online.

Only 1 gift card will be awarded during the competition period. If a person is selected at random duplicate times during the competition entry period, then another entry will be selected at random from all other entries.

 Use of a false name will result in disqualification.

1.          The Prize is non-transferable, non-refundable and there is no cash alternative. Wickes reserves the right to substitute the Prize with one of equal or greater value at any time.

2.        Any changes to the prize draw will be notified to entrants as soon as possible by Wickes.

3.        Entrants who sign up to the Wickes marketing can opt out at any time. All marketing content which is sent to entrants will have an opt-out link within the content.

 The Prize is provided by Wickes, and we are not responsible for any aspect of the Prize, including unsatisfactory quality or late delivery.

Prizing may be sent by Wickes up to 28 days after the competition ends, that being from 18/07/2025.

2.           INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY AND CONSENTS. By entering this Competition, you are consenting to our use of your entry both to publicise this Competition, our radio station or any other radio station which we own or control. This means that we may use all names, images, descriptions, photographs video footage, and other information, which you have submitted on entry, in any media, without paying you any remuneration therefore and without any time restriction. You also agree that we may film, record or photograph you in connection with the competition and /or the Prize if applicable. We will own these films, recordings or photographs and we may use them publicly, including on the internet, for our radio broadcasts and/or for any promotional purposes. You will also have waived any moral rights or right to payment that you may have had.

 

3.           MISCELLANEOUS.

 

• Entries which do not comply with these Terms or the General Competition Terms and Conditions will not be accepted and any entries may be disqualified if we have any reason to suspect that there is a breach of, or non-compliance with, these Terms.
• Where a competition mechanic involves the answering of questions, the correct answers to questions must match our answers to win (or be sufficiently close in our sole reasonable opinion) to be acceptable. In the event of any dispute about any answers given and whether they are correct, we reserve the right to amend what we deem a correct answer, however we are not obliged to, and our decision in either case is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
• We are not responsible if you fail to get through when you call / text to enter, or if you lose signal during a call.
• You are responsible for all costs of entry and where necessary, obtaining the bill payer’s permission. Please refer to your tariff with your network provider for information about charges you may incur for entry into our competitions via any SMS or phone call entry route.
• We accept no liability for network, technical or signal errors, issues or failures experienced by entrants when entering the competition or at any stage during the mechanic of the competition.
• Whilst on-air, you must not make any inappropriate, profane, indecent, harmful or offensive statements. If you do so we reserve the right to take you off-air immediately and disqualify you from the competition. You may be also disqualified from the competition at any time if you are incomprehensible, inaudible or if you appear to be driving, intoxicated or likely to offend listeners. Any prize already won may be withdrawn and re-awarded to another entrant.
• As far as it is lawful to do so we exclude our liability for any losses suffered in connection with the Competition or any element of the Prize.

 

We may cancel, end or suspend the Competition where we are required to do so in circumstances outside our control. We reserve the right to amend these Terms at any stage during the Competition if such amendment is necessary to facilitate the administration of the Competition.
