We are due to get this as the house is sold the solicitor asked for bank details by post and a statement but it says it could take months is this right given the house sale is tied up and money in there bank? It’s a 4 way split so I know everybody has to send there form back but could it take months and they try and drag more fees out?

Has the house sale completed? Or is it currently sold STC?0

Professional executors tend to take a lot more time to distribute an estate than lay executors do, so yea it is likely to take months. Among other things they will be making sure no unknown creditors are going to crawl out of the woodwork before they distribute the estate.1

Who was paying the utility bills, house insurance etc while before the property was sold ? If they were put on ice while the sale completed there may well be some outstanding bills to obtain and settle before the estate is distributed.0

Maybe request an interim distribution asap ahead of the final distribution? That will be additional chargeable work of course if they're not working to a fixed price.2

So can it take a few weeks or is a few months more likely?0
