changes since holiday booked - not happy

We booked a holiday to Greece for this summer, booking early to qualify for a free child place etc. We were given an invoice based upon 2 adults & 2 children on full board and 6 full days a week of childcare out of each 7 for two weeks. The childcare was "free" within the holiday cost and the only option was full board, which suited us really well. We have just found out that since they let us book this the company has changed the standard bookings so that you can now only book half board, and that childcare is only free for half a day for 6 out of every 7 days. They have adjusted the price of our holiday but it nowhere near reflects the additional cost to pay the extra for the further half days of childcare and the costs of feeding a family of 4 at lunch time. We have telephoned them twice now about it and told them we are exceedingly unhappy with the situation and have managed to beat them down so that we are now just over £100 different in the prices from when we started, but this is still in their favour not ours.

Can anyone please tell me if they are able to do this, or can we force them to honour the holiday we paid our deposit for either in price or in provision? It makes me  that we can be treated like this. If we had known all of this before we booked we would have thought twice about it.

Thanks

    Can you not just cancel?

With regard to how much they can change, you need to check the terms and conditions of booking.
    Gone ... or have I?
  • We are considering cancelling, but need to be sure we will get all our money back including the insurance premiums...we all know what they can be like. We are currently waiting for the ABTA point of view on the issue and for a senior manager at the company to get back to us about it all too.

Would you settle at £25, £50 or £75 in their favour?

Also search for a suitable alternative and fully cost it to act as a real comparison.

Also when you know the cancellation details, compare that cost as well.

  • My point is that they should not be allowed to do this in the first place. They sold us a holiday based upon a provision of certain services and now they are only going to provide them if we pay them more. We are looking elsewhere and will make a sensible choice before we do cancel if they will not honour the price we were initially given. We are certainly going to go away with one or another company, but it would be nice not to have all this from a company that we have used and trusted several times before.

    I agree.
Best wishes with getting it sorted.
