Octopus EV Smart Charger — Misleading Compatibility Info and Incomplete Resolution

I have almost the same experience as ujamaflip. I bought from Octopus an EO mini pro 2 in 2021 (for charging Kia e-niro 2021 model on Octopus GO). EO are now withdrawing smart charging because the charger Octopus sold me less than 4 years ago does not comply with 2021 regulations (that were published in draft in 2017). Is this fair?0

Yes; I was miffed when EO End-of-Lifed my EO Mini Pro 2 app because it meant I couldn't schedule EV charging to coincide with the availability of cheaper off-peak electricity.ujamaflip said:Has anyone had a similar experience or advice on next steps?
The charger still worked, but it would start charging as soon as the car was plugged in, and the app, which allowed the user to set a schedule for charging (to take advantage of cheaper, off-peak elecricity) had been disabled, which meant that I would have to stay up late to connct the car to the charger (I wouldn't have to worry about getting up early to unplug the car as charging would end when the battery was full; nonetheless, I found the situation to be very inconvenient, and got fed-up with it after doing it just once, so I started to hunt for a solution, hoping to find alternative software to use with the EO Mini Pro 2).
If you search online, you should be able to find alternative software that will provide a timer functionality, and will allow you to disable the charger too (when EO borked the app, they left the charger permanently accessible, which that means anyone could park on your drive while you're at work and simply help themselves to a peak-rate charge at your expense by plugging a car into your EO Mini Pro 2!).
One that I have found and used is is OpenEO, which can be found here: https://github.com/minceheid/openeo0
