Probate

Options
Can anyone please advise if they know how long probate is taking at the moment.

Simple case, wife left everything to husband. Probate needed to sell substantial shares.

Applied online

Thankyou

Mine took 10 weeks as more info was required regarding will was drafted on single pages and plastic binder was used.
  • It took a calendar month rather than the 16 weeks quoted. A simple estate just needing probate to give legal cover to sell a property. In reality, HMRC and DWP are the ones who cause the delays and make a simple process more complicated than it needs to be. A big question has arisen for me as to where I park the estates funds prior to distribution? I was naively thinking that there would be a “best buy” category on MSE. I need high interest and frequent no penalty withdrawals until the account is empty and closed.

It's Variable - it's just taken 9 months to get probate on FIL's estate.
