Can someone help me understand the results of the BT Broadband checker so I understand my options?

Options
We are currently in contract with Virgin Media but service is so variable we've also taken out an additional service with Community Fibre (as it's essential for my job and DH). Household of 5 with many device and smart things so they really take their toll.

I would love to bin Virgin off come renewal time but traditionally been tied to them or Sky as our road doesn't get aerial tv coverage. All neighbours I know of on the road also use Sky/Virgin or Community Fibre

I would appreciate if anyone could help me understand if I could get fibre via OR so I can look at more options (including using different tv options)

Many thanks

You don't have OR FTTP available, you do have FTTC available

That explains why other than CF and VM the highest speed I'm offered is so slow! Am in a London borough too, might need to look into using the old Sky dish as freesat then as that's not enough to get the BT broadband with their TV package (and can't use Freeview)

    Thanks

As it is also a WLR withdrawal exchange then there will be restrictions on ordering any service that uses the copper lines, which may mean FTTC cannot be ordered although those that have it will keep it.

Hmm - so there's a reason the whole street is Sky/Virgin/CF then - so annoying for the tv part  and I hate VM 'customer service' but for a fair broadband service and tv coverage (plus sports) there's not much else can try. So annoying as can see the transmitter from the house (used to live directly underneath it and also had rubbish freeview).

Appreciate your help though, I thought that's what it said just was a bit shocked

The checker clearly shows SoGEA (that is copper based FTTC without a PSTN phone service ) as available

The OP question seems pretty vague to me , what do they actually want , is it a ‘broadcast’ TV service ( as they already have two broadband providers capable of delivering narrowcast IP TV ) so is it  a way to get ‘ broadcast’ TV services  like BBC , ITV , Channel 4 , Channel 5 etc when via an aerial is no good due to the geographic location of the address , (presumably no DTV signal )  , then that leaves satellite (Sky or Freesat ) or cable TV …..the predicted speeds from the BTw checker of 60-80Mb is 2 to 3 times what’s needed for UHD TV and 10 times greater than needed for HD so will deliver IP TV  easily, so something like this plus a broadband provider, so BTTV , EETV will work fine on the available FTTC (SoGEA) services , but if cheaper and faster CF is available I dare say not may will be using it .

why bother replacing VM with another broadband provider on SoGEA , I’d just get rid of VM completely and if necessary buy more  bandwidth with Community Fibre and have all TV delivered online via CF , unless redundancy is needed in which case EE broadband and TV to replace VM .
