Morning all and thanks @-taff for today's start - I think we were all wondering where you were! Sounds like you had a good weekend though.
Yesterday's weather was fine until around 7.30 pm when we had a heavy downpour for about an hour or so, then on and off showers overnight. Today we're back to what we're more used to i.e. sunshine and showers this morning, drier but cloudy this afternoon, temperatures around the 17 deg mark. Seems like our mini heatwave is over!
All planned jobs done yesterday but today is a bit up in the air. DS and his partner are supposed to be taking me out for a bite to eat this afternoon but it will all depend on what time they get back from their weekend stay in London and how they feel after the long drive back. The occasion is to mark what would have been DH's 84th birthday, my first one without him in 56 years. I think I'd prefer to be at home but I know DS is missing his Dad a lot so I'm happy to go along with a meal out if that's what he wants. If we do go out I'll just have a sandwich later in the day, if not I'm sure I can find something to make a meal. @remmie - Your ham, egg and chips sounds appealing (but without the ham 'cost I haven't got any).
Many, many congratulations Derek on a well deserved recognition for all your efforts. Love the photo!
@-taff - Thanks for the brownie points, I'm trying to ignore the fact it's all to do again with another coat!
@Ruby - Fingers crossed you hear something good from the council this week before you go off to Corfu.
@Gers - Glad to hear you and your friend had a such a good weekend and you arrived home safely, despite the atrocious weather.
@TA - That's sad about your new neighbour at the site, we never know what's around the corner, do we? Enjoy your feet up/reading day, who needs an excuse?
I'm hoping the new week will be kind to us all, how on earth have we got to the last week of June so soon? Hugs where needed or wanted, enjoy the day and take care. XBe kind to others and to yourself too.8 -
Good afternoon 😊
Redundancy notice confirmation arrived this morning. There will be some issued from the first of July, but as of yet no-one knows who will be affected. We are assuming it’s last in, first out. I just don’t know, and that is the most stressful part of this process. We are not in control of what happens, so there is a heavy strain hanging over us. There have been lots of ifs and maybes, and some voluntary redundancy, but now there is no choice - it’s whatever way it falls, but the waiting is awful.
I went to the local Asian cash & carry this morning, and stocked up on rice, pulses, and spices. Worse comes to the worse, I can make cheap meals out of those. As a vegan, for me it’s meals I’m used to eating. The meat eaters may need to adapt a bit, but hopefully, it won’t be for long.
I haven’t done much else.
There’s a wash on the line, and I sorted the freezer in the kitchen. It’s windy out, but it’s dry, so I might go and spend some time in the garden. There’s chicken in the slow cooker, which I will shred and add to noodles later, then I’m having a mushroom stir-fry with noodles.
Hope you all have a good day 😊
