Default debt payment

Options
Default due to drop off next month, currently paying small amounts to “law firm” each month. As it stands the debt would be cleared in 10 years wondering if it would be good idea to make a settlement offer?

If you have the funds, why not?

Do it in writing, start low, use the National Debtline template

If this is a Consumer Credit Act debt, do a formal  s77-9CCA request first. Again, ND have a template

Just to keep in mind that although the default will disappear from your credit files next month, because you've been "acknowledging" it by making payments, the debt is still legally enforceable. There's little harm in writing to the lender and asking for a full and final settlement figure to see what they will accept.
