I know its been done but can anyone give me some advice please. Ive made a start with filling a container and will arrange a van to take the majority of what I want kept. Im going to arrange someone to come and do a deep clean but how do I arrange all this with the bed and sofa still in the house.

you just have to clean round stuff as much as you can - that is what most people do

I agree with not doing a DIY move.

As a backup, only, I believe that some of the 'driver and van' companies online will have availability same day for a price. I remember noticing that when I was booking moves. However, I was moving short distances and I guess it would be more difficult for longer distances. If I was in the position of failing to do a DIY move and it was the last day, I would try to book a same day vehicle. Note the word 'try'.

I would expect someone doing a deep clean to still be able to do so with a bed and a sofa in the house? I was a bit curious as to why a bed and a sofa being in a house would stop a deep clean. Looking up a few sites seems to suggest that a deep clean often takes place with furniture in-situ and this site suggests that part of what makes a deep clean a deep clean is moving furniture to clean underneath. https://cleaning-express.com/what-does-deep-cleaning-include

I completely disagree with the replies on this. I've done multiple DIY moves over the years with selling and buying on the same day.
Whats the diffrence loading up a van and waiting for your new place to complete than a removal company doing exactly the same thing?

DIY moving takes a bit of planning AND planning for delays, it's not difficult, you have all the infomation you require in advance of the day.

Cleaning is super simple before moving anything, ever heard of a spring clean? y'know where you move funiture around and give your house a good clean from top to bottom.....No one expects a new home to be sparkling.

Why do i do it all myself? Because it will all be done my way and properly.

I guess it depends how much stuff you need to move, how much help you have and how far you're moving.
Moving contents of a one bed flat, with a couple of burly mates, moving a couple of miles - fine to DIY
Moving contents of a 4 bed house, with no help, to the other side of the country - madness to even think about attempting it

Everything will be alright in the end so, if it’s not yet alright, it means it’s not yet the end

OP, on the day of the move, you should already have everything you can already packed up and sorted, minus the bed you slept in and a few bits and bobs maybe. We had a house over 3 floors to move. We did use professional movers, but the basic plan was - start at the top, as the top floor was emptied, we gave it a good clean, then the first floor, then finally the ground floor. We literally vacced to the front door, then unplugged the vac and chucked it in the car. Think military operation. We had all the boxes in piled up neatly in the living room, with room to move the furniture out. Any furniture that needed dismantling was dismantled and wrapped, etc. Still took the professional team about 2 hours.

DIY moves can work, can also go terribly wrong. The house we moved to had all their stuff in the drive, in the neighbours drive, in the street etc. for hours after they'd moved out, while we were inside our new house settling in. All depends what you are moving of course.

If you are selling your house, there's no need to pay someone to deep clean it - leaving it clean and tidy is the right thing to do (we did) but not a requirement (we had to clean the entire house we moved into). We paid someone to deep clean the cooker we were leaving, the week before, but other than that it was just us dusting and vaccing.

Yep - based on a few previous posts, I think the misunderstanding that some potential DIY movers have is that they can use a van to make multiple trips.

It depends on the distance. For moves within the same city, I've done DIY moves with multiple trips with a van several times. E.g. morning, return to the home, then afternoon. It's not as cheap as doing it all at once, but I found it easier.
