Morning again.
It's still warm here but clouding over. We had a thunderstorm last night.
Did a bit of shopping yesterday, and pottered round the house. I have far too many books and am going through them with a view to getting rid of of some. It goes against the grain, ideally I would keep every book I'd ever acquired, but it's not possible from a storage point of view. I'm hoping Dh will do the same with his.
Today will probably be similar to yesterday, tidying, and pottering.
We like Midsomer Murders as well Themsthebreaks, cosy crime its called these days I believe.
Haven't seen Taff for a while, hope all's well.
Hope all's well for everyone in fact, whatever you're doing today.
Take care folks.13 -
Good morning 😊
Thank you for the start, @ScarletRibbons.
We had a lovely homebound day yesterday, setting up the foldaway table in the living room for nuggets and wedges, and to play board games - Batman Cluedo, and Stardew Valley. Then, we watched a couple of episodes of Midsomer Murder. Before we knew it, it was ten thirty.
Today, we are having a barbecue. Rain has been forecast for early evening, so it will be a lunch time affair.
My baked beans turned out really well. I was pleased with those, and there is enough for a few jacket potato and baked bean lunches next week.
I have a few wash loads to sort through, and need to give the living room a tidy around, but again, it’s going to be a relatively easy day.
I can’t remember the last time I had such a chilled weekend, but it’s been lovely.
Hope you all have a good day 😊

Morning allFelt like a wet rag by the end of yesterday. The heat floored me. Went to sleep early but managed to sleep until 6am which was a bonus. Woke to dark clouds and thunder this mornig but it has cleared up now with no rain but we are expecting very strong winds this afternoon. Strange weather indeed.Thai curry for dinner and that's about all that will happen today.Have a good day all x12

Good morning
Sunny, but feels a bit cooler. The promised rain yesterday just turned into a bit of drizzle.
Big dog has been a bit poorly after his jab on Friday, the heats a bit too much for him also.
I've pulled some chicken drumsticks out of the freezer, will decide what to do with them later, although it'll be with salad no doubt.
Nothing else to report, have a good Sunday all. Take care.

Morning all. After a beautifully sunny and hot day here at Pooley Bridge the weather went nuts. Hours of spectacular lightning, hours of very loud rumbling thunder and hours of torrential rain. Once I’d gone to bed the loudest crack of thunder shook the lodge. It was like the sky being torn apart. All is calm this morning.I’ll be heading home soon and see that the same is forecasted for there. Joy!
I hope all are well and safe.11 -
Morning all. Bright and sunny here although it rained late last night.
First peaceful cuppa of the day and then I have to go and finish the ironing. I'll make a bowl of salad for lunch, to have with the leftover salmon from yesterday and then we'll be setting off to take DSiL to Heathrow for her flight home tonight.
We had a lovely afternoon with all the family yesterday but it will be equally good to have a quiet, normal few days at home, although we're off to the New Forest on Thursday for a long weekend.
Look after yourselves.12 -
Morning all and thanks @Scarlet for today's thread. Yesterday's thunder and rain bypassed us with just a few rogue drops around 2pm for all of about 3 minutes that hardly wet the ground. It was very hot though and just seemed to get hotter as the day went on. If there was any thunder or lightening overnight, then I slept through it!
Today it's forecast to be a much more bearable 21 or 22 deg, generally sunny with a moderate breeze, light rain possible late morning and then again this evening.
I painted the radiators yesterday, a tedious job that seemed to take forever. They do look much better but, despite the promise of "just one coat needed", I think they need a second one.Not today or tomorrow though as I have other plans. Then I pinned and tacked together the top fabric and wadding for the sofa seat pad I'm making; that will be sewn up today. Other must-do jobs are to take and send meter readings (again) ready for the new fixed price plan that starts tomorrow, book a grocery delivery for Tuesday and stick a throw in the WM. Tea tonight is a pork steak that I was going to use to make a casserole but I've decided to change it to pork strips in BBQ sauce with savoury rice and some mixed veg.
@Gers - Have a safe journey home.
@mehefin - I hope today's civic ceremony goes well.
Have a good (and hopefully more comfortable) day whether you're at home or away, hugs where needed or wanted, take care. XBe kind to others and to yourself too.10 -

Morning all
Feels slightly cooler here than yesterday which was sweltering, a while ago OH bought an air con unit in the Homebase closing sale we had it on upstairs yesterday and it was blissfully cool but we had to turn it off at bedtime as it’s so noisy.
I didn’t get round to doing the garden yesterday so that will be on the cards today I have two new wall planters out the front so want to get them planted and just have a general tidy.
Bbq for dinner tonight I will make up some sides before I go out in the garden as I won’t be bothered later, I think we have pork belly in the freezer so will get that out.
Mehefin enjoy the ceremony x
Have good days all and take care xx9 -
Morning all
I’ve no idea if/when I last posted - life seems a blur.Lovely visit with my BFF and partner and with that and watering two gardens (NDN on hols) and picking fruit it seems too busy. The heat doesn’t help and I’m starting earlier but going to bed the same time which may be why I’m shattered.Car and van to wash today - watering and dog walking done already though it is a bit cooler.Take care all
